SARAH PALIN! She now has "a big win under her belt" and this is gonna make her a "hot property" in the 2010 off-year election! :wtf:

Now, on the bright side, if the culture warrior shtick fails in 2010... that is the end of the road for Mrs Palin and the rest of the gang

To give them another chance to prop her up, especially if her handlers have a chance to make her sound a little more competent in the interim? The MSM will be happy to put a spotlight back on her if they think it'll increase their viewership.

But yes-kind of like that. She obviously knows the answer and act like she doesn't and it's obvious each passing time that she does.

Sarah Palin is not going to win the nomination to be the rethuglican nominee in '12. There is no way those white guys are going to let it happen. We could only wish she does. Unless she becomes even somewhat coherent in the next two years she does not have a chance. We are in for a world of total fuckupatude and she will never be able to make it look like she can handle it. The only way would be if Barack fucks things up beyond belief. Do you really think he'll do that?

I don't know see how Palin gets out of any Senate run in 2010 or White House run in 2012 without her image in tatters. She was generally left alone this year because she was the VP candidate.

Once she runs for the top of the ticket the things that didn't register this time around will become much larger issues that she won't be able to just flick away by ignoring them.

Even when I don't agree with him, I find his comments useful and based on actual thought.

I'm amazed that Sarah Palin is viewed by anyone as something other than punch line... but I don't agree with her (supposed) "views", and even if I were a Republican, I can't imagine viewing her any differently.

It's surprising that Gergen takes her seriously. I know she draws crowds, but so does a 2-headed turtle or calf or some such at the county fair. I'd bet there are people who do go see her because of that sort of incredulity, not out of support. I have no statistical data, Imma jes' guessin'... : )

Is there some (exit) polling data to support this outrageous claim (or the "news story" I read the other day suggesting that Chambliss winning this race signifies some kind of "loss" for Obama at the hands of Sarah Palin) or is this simply another one of those "it's true because we say it's true" pundit thing that happens all the time with near impunity? Chambliss, as far as I know, was already expected to win this race and Obama didn't carry Georgia, so why should Sarah Palin, of all people, be somehow credited with playing a significant role in his victory? There are simply just some statements that are SO "beyond the pale" stupid but this one by Gergen (somebody I usually tend to agree with or at least understand) is particularly breathtaking. But hey, if the corporate media whores want to prop her up for 2010 or beyond, then who's going to stop them? In the last election she DID prove how useful she could be (to us that is). ;-)

http://sos.georgia.gov/elections/election_results/2008_1202//003.htm

All the counties except for a few voted overwhelmingly for Chambliss. My county Cherokee is bright red, 42,832 voted for Chambliss and 9,558 for Martin. In fact, whenever there are local elections there are no Democrats on the ballots, so I don't bother voting.

I understand the republicans' need to spin this favourably for themselves, but with respect to Palin - she went to GA to campaign solely because:

1) She'll do anything to keep her face in a camera
2) She'll do anything to get out of Alaska

Gergen likely just needed something quick to say and that comment came out. He probably regrets it today.

57. Yep, that's some high-stakes poker she was playin'!

Takin' her Fundie Nutball Xpress tour into four Georgia stops, and claimin' credit for something that had been in the bag for Chambliss all along.

Tossin' out some "baby-killer" rhetoric along the way.

That took some guts, you betcha.

58. She only helps with the extreme right wing. If it's enough to get her the GOP nomination in '12,
fine, because I think that dim bulb can be beaten very easily.

72. hey, i say let her get a big head
not that she didnt already have one .. but...

i like the idea of her being the head of a ticket...

should be the easiest election of our lifetimes ;)

america sees her interesting because shes so batty, not because she has any substance whatsoever...
hence why her ratings dropped like a rock after people got to see her more...

so PLEASE u right-wing morans.... do the moran thing and pick the easiest person for us to take down...

until then, ill be hoping and dreaming this lil dream will come true.
