Why I'm not upset about PE Obama's cabinet picks...
I'm not too crazy with about half of them.

I like about half of them.

If I liked all of them, it would mean the righties would hate ALL of them.

Remember the Bush administration? He chose ONLY people that we (normal, thinking Americans) hated. He chose only ideologues and yes men. And look what happened.

The point is, a mixed government is not a bad thing. It means all angles are being represented.

But the bottom line is, Obama will still be The Man. He's the guy in charge. I'm actually comforted that he hasn't surrounded himself with a cabal of yes men and sycophants like his predecessor did. It shows he's willing to listen.

Call me crazy.

2. I agree with you
I also think that while I didn't want Hillary for POTUS, I do think she will be a great asset at State. After Colin Powell's disastrous performance and Condi's know-nothingness over the last several years, having someone driven, smart and hardworking will be a good change. I'm a New Yorker and Clinton's been a good senator. And, though she did (mistakenly) pad her foreign policy experience in the primaries, I do think that she is a very smart, informed politician.

3. I'm just hoping he puts good progressives in spots like Labor and Interior
I agree that the cabinet could be a lot worse, however.

4. After eight years of ideologues running the country, I'll settle for competence.
The one thing you can say about the Obama team is that they all are supremely competent. Sure, I'd love to see a few left leaning populist heroes in position but given the situation right now, I'll be very happy if they can do a good job of making what we have work.

I'd rather have a mechanic who can fix my car than someone who can quote Marx but doesn't know a fuel injector from an air filter.

5. Obama has been talking about implementing a unity mixed government for months.
Good to see the light bulb finally went on! :)
