Healthcare Reform to Be Major Aspect of Obama's 1st Term
All the signs are pointing in that direction. It failed under Clinton, but it won't fail again. The economic situation wasn't as dire, and we didn't have the numbers in Congress. I think Clinton being put in a high position proves that. It's also why the Rethug machine is already raking up the attacks on healthcare reform, it's their achilles heel. If it passes, they're done...and they know it. Obama talked about transforming the electorate, I don't think he was just talking about campaigning either.

1. If he is able to do it right it will help the economy a lot...
that, however, requires getting the insurance bureaucrats out of the game and reigning in the profits of phramaceuticals. As a matter of principle, I don't think any one industry should be allowed to become so powerful that it could bring down the entire economy, but right now there are three such industries: finance, energy and healthcare. Perhaps agriculture will be next.

2. Exactly. We need single payer to SAVE money... The media spin is the reverse, however...
The big spin is how much such a plan would "cost" the government, even though it's been shown, time and again it would SAVE the country billions and billions, not to mention improve productivity.

Simply, we can't afford NOT to do it!

6. Some group needs to run prime time ads nationwide pointing out what you're saying.
I wonder it there are any groups out there with the resources to mount a campaign.

I believe that single payer would be in the best interest of most large companies (with a few obvious exceptions) so why aren't they pushing for it? It would be a boon to the big three auto makers.

3. True, it is probably the most pro-business thing that could happen.
You get more entrepreneurs able to start businesses, you get more small business's able to retain employees and grow and you get it out of negotiations with Unions.

9. If we get Obama's plan passed through Congress, it's a huge step in
the right direction. Not to say that his plan is perfect--it's not--but it might make some retards wake up and realize that healthcare for everyone isn't "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE OMG CANADA".

10. Even though a Canadian-style plan is not a bad idea
and deserves serious consideration which it looks like it's not going to get. Mandated private insurance will only make things better. It won't make them good.
