My opinion on the groping thing.
I think he should not be fired because he apologized and is young. But what he did was stupid and was (in my opinion)being an asshole.

7. How old would he need to be before we stop saying that
he's too young to know better? Many young DUers complain, with good reason, that they are sometimes dismissed here as being too young to express their opinions. If we support the idea that an 18 year old is mature enough to be trusted with the right to vote, why would we dismiss Faverau's lack of judgment because of his age--which is 27, not exactly a teenager. I too think that his apology makes a difference, and I agree that he shouldn't be fired because of this lapse of judgment, just wish we would stop pretending that anyone under the age of 30 is congenitally stupid.

14. He should be fired for being stupid, not for "groping"
This will be the only one he will learn the lesson. Otherwise he will just shrug his shoulders, figuring that all he has to do is apologize - what a great start for a political career.

We do not punish politicians for their actions but for not apologizing.

Remember how Edwards demanded that Hillary drop to her knees, pound her chest and apologize for her IWR vote?

19. Several of the posters here who have called
Favreau on this aren't necessarily Hillary supporters. Many were Obama supporters from the beginning and are annoyed at this idiot for providing fresh fodder for the Freepers. Others think it smacks of sexism--it was a cutout of Hillary, not Obama or another man. And yes, some people who are offended just like Hillary and think it shows a lack of respect for her, and it's hard not to agree. If someone is criticizing you for defending this idiot, they have some good reasons.

Now THAT is precious! If you think that's stalking then you don't know what stalking is. In case you forgot it was YOU who initiated any exchange that originally took place between you and me with your ridiculous mockery of another post I did earlier. You reap what you sow. Cry about that, too, if you want.

BTW, why is that YOU are stalking Question Everything? I notice that you stalked him here from another thread, so practice what you preach. Have a little cheese with that whine while your at it. Here, maybe this will help...

It's called remembering.

You just had the unfortunate experience of happening to be in another thread that I was interested in after you made a fool of yourself in an earlier one just previous to that.

Cry me a river, Sidney. You're starting to amuse me.

So you 'bumping' into me in similar threads, all of which you've made a fool of yourself in, equates to me being a previously tombstoned zombie who's waited 7 months after rejoining DU to renew our previous history. It was remarkably stupid, but it is something that he has to live with now.

If Edwards demanded that HRC "drop to her knees, pound her chest and apologize for her IWR vote" that was complete demagoguery. He was more of a war cheerleader and a co-sponsor. He did not do that himself - all he did was write "I was wrong" in a Washington Post op-ed.

I think this incident has seen more light than required.
It was silly, and unnecessary,
but it was cardboard and not the end of the world.

If we are supposed to be upset and hold a grudge,
than I would still be pissed in how Hillary Clinton mocked me, as an Obama supporter,
when she talked about how the heavens would open up.
I'm way passed that, and so is she.
It's called acting like a magnanimous adult,

not some here at DU, many who seem to have a grudge holding children-like mentality.

Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 06:17 PM by FrenchieCat
and the last thing we need to be doing is comparing something that happened
with something that didn't.

John McCain had nasty things to say about Chelsea......
but I didn't see that upsetting either Bill or Hillary,
in making only negative comments about John McCain.

My point is that these politicians obviously are much tougher,
and have much more confidence than we give them credit for.

And my point stands that Michelle Obama is not appropriate to compare Hillary Clinton to.
One is the spouse of a politician, and the other is an actual politician.

Sexism is a vengeful old god fanatically worshiped and defended for the cause, any cause.

Democrats effortlessly and passionately shed light on sexism with hearts of lions and cerebral fortitude no matter the horse it rode in on. It's a moral imperative, not a whine, not obama damage control.

This is like the most un-controversial controversy ever. Bill Clinton got in trouble for lying about his embarrassing business, still not enough reason to remove him from his job. So why would you wanna fire an incredibly talented young speechwriter for something that's about 1000000x tamer and less controversial than what Clinton did as President?
