I respect anyone who wants to criticize Obama but my issue with this criticism is that it appears many of the folks who are criticizing him are just looking for reasons to be unhappy with him and his choices.

Many of us expect him to be a very good president and definitely an improvement over the Bush years, however it seems that many folks want him to be the perfect president.

Don't sit down, don't shut up, just take something to treat that jerking knee.

2. Not only a perfect president, but one who will jump through our hoops
and dance to our tune. I suspect that a lot of what Obama does will not be good enough for some people and unfortunately too many of them will be Democrats.

4. I expect that people who voted for Obama will over look the bad and that people who didn't will
accentuate the bad.

Same as with bush. Same as with Clinton.

Lincoln said, "Look for the bad in a man and you are sure to find it." Some will look for it, others will look away. Neither group will understand how the other group doesn't see what they do.

5. What do you expect when people keep trying to hold his feet to the fire?
(As I've heard DUers say over and over again.)

14. I have read that a gazillion times myself..
Some want more than holding his feet to the fire as it were. I think they want to burn him alive. Not a breath between a news drop at drudge and an uh oh post on the board. Just my observation

10. I'd be happy if people would keep from exaggerating.
Yes, there are liberals in the proposed cabinet already. Stop saying liberals are shut out. Bull.
No, a few moderates and a Republican doesn't mean that Obama has turned conservative and will do nothing good for four years. Is there anything wrong with keeping the criticism honest and reasonable?

11. K & R
Good Post and I visited your journal and like the post about your work within the Blago administration. I grew up in Chicago and have family still there so I understand where you are coming from. Blago is a psycho...my sister (who has since passed away) was a major supporter when he first ran for office. I was wondering what she would be thinking today if she could see what an ass he turned out to be!

13. yeah, Bush has heard less criticism from this board
Republicans walk in lockstep which is a foolish attitude but a strategic one. It keeps their message to the middle very clear. We, on the other hand, are seen as petty bickerers on many occasions. listen people: if you cant find reasonable way to make your argument, perhaps you don't have one.

15. the opposite is true
I think people who disagree with some of the things Obama is doing have been remarkably restrained, especially when compared to those attacking any and all critics. Also, the responses to attacks on the Left and the promotion of right wing ideas has been slow, and well-reasoned. "Knee jerk" suggests haste and a lack of thought. The opposite has been true, in my view.

I don't think that anyone is juts looking for things to criticize for the sake of criticizing, nor because they want to be unhappy. But of course we can't know that, which means that insinuations can be made about their motives and suspicions can be spread.
