I think unless he is removed through impeachment soon--that he can continue on as governor while he fights these charges. I think that anybody who is appointed by him would, rightly or not, be tainted. I could see Blaggo just going ahead and snubbing everybody and appointing himself.

3. really? he'd fit right in with Teddy Kennedy, Pat Leahy,
Bernie Sanders, Barbara Boxer, Jack Reed, Barbara Mikloski, etc, etc. Smearing the entire Senate as completely corrupt is ridiculous.

4. Ah, but Blaggy isn't a felon yet--and he could certainly drag this out up until the next election
in 2010.

6. The senate would refuse to seat him.
The Senate can refuse to seat anybody, so tehre is a firewall between Blago and any jail cell appointment.

7. I think that is probably something that would happen--the dems don't want this guy stinking up their
caucus anyway.

8. Highly unlikely
He is going to be concentrating on keeping his ass out of prison rather than his next political move.
