"Blagojevich's best defense"

Actually Fairly Credible

By Josh Marshall

I think Blagojevich's best defense is probably going to be an insanity defense based on the evidence of his idea that he was setting himself up to run for president by appointing himself to serve out Obama's senate term.

4. You'd be amazed how many pols really are batshit crazy
When you know these people personally, you learn about the skeletons and the baggage, and it can be enlightening. I've served with people who are certifiable, who have legume-level IQ's, and who have the ethical standards of a Deatheater. Sometimes all in one package.

6. Insanity pleas don't have a chance unless..

..you can prove that your insanity caused you to not know or not comprehend what you were doing when you committed your crime. So even if a murderer was declared "insane", it doesn't get him out of anything unless his insanity caused him to do something he didn't know he was doing.
