VW is building a new plant in Corker's HOMETOWN!!!
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 11:32 PM by Clio the Leo
With all of the talk of the Southern Senators who have foreign, non union plants in their states, the MSN keeps failing to point out is that THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW VW PLANT DOWN THE STREET FROM BOB CORKER'S HOUSE!!!!!

I know because I live there!

Sorry, I needed to vent.

Say what you want about Harold Ford but Corker beat him using the most vile, rascist attack I have seen in my lifetime and I'm still bitter.

Ok, carry on.

1. The Republicans are so stupid. The reason foreign manufacturers come
here is that the labor is cheaper! In their home countries, these companies pay enough in taxes to contribute to national health insurance. No such problems in the USA. Well, they'll be shutting down there operations here, when there aren't enough car buyers.

The Republicans can't see 10 feet in front of themselves. Apparently their schools don't teach cause and effect.

5. And then they'll move on, after convincing the workers that it was the unions
that priced the company out of the US. :puke:

8. And the MSM is not overstating the battle unions have to fight here..
... there has been a long and deep-seeded mistrust of unions that goes back generations here.

One of the cradles of the civil rights movement was the Highlander School, the campus of which was high on a mtn. in middle TN. It was formed by union organizers and self-proclaimed socialists would meet to conduct adult eduction programs and try to make better lives for the people in Appalachia. It's where Pete Seeger arranged and helped dissemenate the movement's anthem "We Shall Overcome" which many of you know was a song that was born in the labor movement of the 30s and 40s. The verse "We are not afraid....." actually came about as a result of an incident at the School that involved local police and school aged children.

Anyway, I'm off on a tangent ... to show you just the kind of bias agaist unions here, THIS is how that school was labled by local politicians during the 50s and 60s....

(shown in this pic are MLK and Rosa Parks)

And the people now working in these plants today are the children and grandchildren of the very people who thought "union" and "communism" were one in the same.

It's sad.
