Senate GOP Kills Auto Bailout Compromise

1. Hate and Disgust are probably not strong enough to describe
how I feel about those people.

5. I thought the Democrats won the election. Sure looks like the
GOP remain in charge and as usual the Democrats on the Hill come
off as weak and believing in nothing--except trying to hold on
their job.

9. The new Congress and President start in January
This is the lame duck session - and there are many defeated Republicans in it.

8. In a way this is good for Obama and for our chances to ultimately make real changes.
The shitier the shape the Repukes leave the country in the better the chance that Obama can propose and get through real changes to the country. For example, if many more people lose their health insurance because of lost jobs the more likely he can cut through opposition to univeral health care.

Additionally average Americans are more able to see the true color of Republicans as a group of people that use ideology to trump common sense in their view of the world.

There is no way FDR could have made the great changes he ended up making if Hoover had not wrecked the country so badly, and the same may well be true here as well. It is sad that so many people must suffer under the yoke of the Republicans but I try to be optimistic that in the end it will work for the common good.
