Obama will use the "Taxation without Represetation" License plate for the Parade
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/inauguration-watch/2008/12/dc_to_obama_use_taxation_witho.html

So many decisions for a president-elect. Who to pick for the Cabinet? Where to send your kids to school? And now ... what license plates to use on the presidential limo?

If the D.C. Council has any say, Barack Obama will be using the special D.C. "Taxation Without Representation" plates, which call attention to the city's lack of voting rights in Congress.

The 13 council members sent Obama's camp a letter today urging him to use the plates. From the letter:

_____________________________________________

Clinton used them too. Bush had them covered up.

2. You know I thought there was talk about giving DC at least a US Representative that votes
they would counterbalance it with an extra representative in Utah.

12. No, DC has never had a vote in congress.
Holmes-Norton is a delegate, with no voting power. Gingrich didn't take anything away--DC never had a vote to begin with.

4. D.C. residents need representation in Congress (not necessarily statehood)
I'll get some flack from this, but I'm not sold on the idea of turning a city into a state. My solution would be something like the following:

All D.C. residents would be considered Maryland state residents for purposes of statewide matters (electing governors, Senators, etc.).

D.C. would get a congressional district.

That would seem to cover it... D.C. residents would be represented in the Senate and in the House.

6. Sweet! One more reason to love the guy
I've been hoping he would do something to call attention to the lack of voting rights for DC. I am very excited that he is doing something to show he supports full voting rights.

7. That needs to be remedied that
the Residents of Washington DC don't have representation. Maybe in the next years with a decent representation from other parts of our country.:patriot::patriot:
