Obama Approval Ratings Not Dented by Blagojevich Scandal

... with essentially three full days of interviewing having been conducted after Blagojevich's arrest on on Tuesday morning, Obama's approval ratings remain pristine. Gallup shows that 72 percent of the public has a favorable view of Obama, and 18 percent an unfavorable view. The 72 percent favorability rating matches the 72 percent score that Obama achieved on November 7th-9th for the highest since the election, whereas the 18 percent disapproval rating is Obama's lowest yet. Three days ago, before Blagojevich's arrest, those ratings were 70 percent and 21 percent, respectively.

Rasmussen, likewise, sees no change to Obama's approval ratings. 67 percent of their voters now approve of Obama's performance, and 31 percent disapprove, exactly matching Obama's ratings from three days prior, and within a percentage point of his peak totals.

1. Fitzie said there was no involvement.. most of us understand this.
AND a very popular president taking on a difficult situation of the Second great Depression being hounded by the media looking for any ties.. seems rather like a witch hunt. People will turn on the media for treating Obama like Britney and OJ all at the same time.

2. I think people realize it's the media that is trying somehow to involve
Obama in this scandal. Anything for a story.

3. When the corrupt governor calls you a "motherfucker" for not paying to play...
that pretty much settles it. I think the American people are seeing thru the bullshit.

7. I can't really imagine it would. Blago's actions were retaliation for Obama passing ethrics>
reforms that made a lot of Balgo's actions illegal he was intentionally trying to taint Obama, but huge fail.

10. I'm not surprised
The media (and some here) want to jump all over Obama for not responding initially in a way that they thought was the best, but IMO most people have simply paid attention to the fact that A) Blago was clearly pissed off that he wasn't going to be able to get any pay for play from Obama and B) The prosecutor making it pretty clear from the outset that he didn't see Obama being involved. I personally don't watch the 24-7 news channels, and have never seen Morning Joe or most of the people who are ranted about here daily. NBC nightly news is the most exposure I've gotten to it. I'll note that I think they've been quite good in their coverage and seem to be focusing more on what Blago did wrong himself than any illegal involvement of Obama or his staff.

11. It's satisfying for me
to see that the American people saw though the attempts at character assassination during the election, and continue to see beyond the msm's efforts to stir up shit at every turn.

Not this time!

12. Obama favorability up to 73% today in Gallup
Highest ever, I believe. A little surprising, given the beating he is taking in the press for the Blago scandal.

13. It seems the public is no longer taking cues from the media.
I remember how the media tried to immediately spin the debates as a win for McCain. The people said NO.
For whatever reason, people are finally waking up and realizing that the media is the mouth piece of an elite group of billionaires--not for regular people.

14. Could this actually, finally be happening?!
The media are the media--ideology doesn't drive them, but money does. Maybe fewer people are tuning in?
