Harken interview today
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 10:32 PM by nomaco-10
Did anyone else catch the Harken interview, I believe it was on CNN today with Judy Woodruff. She asked him of course, who he will endorse and he was very evasive. He just kept saying, I haven't made up my mind yet, all the candidates are so great pc rhetoric.
She then pressed further and said "I heard you were all set to endorse Dean, but the "rumors" are, you got alot of phone calls from union groups that support Gephardt that "threatened" you not to endorse Dean". Senator Harken looked very surprised by her choice of words and said, well, stammered a little actually, and evaded that question as well. It seemed Judy may have struck a nerve. He gathered himself and continued to churn out the same "I haven't made my mind up yet, all the candidates are just so swell" line.

I think this is going to be one of the most down and dirtiest primaries in recent history. I think there is so much going on behind the scenes, it's mind boggling. I think there are phone calls and threats, I think there are candidates making deals with the devil from the other side, I think the ads are going to get nastier, I think some over zealous supporters will sabotage other's campaigns, I think whoever wins the nomination is going to come out bloody and shell shocked to face bush*. I think the battle for the nomination is not about who is best to beat bush*, but which side of the democratic party will emerge victorious. And the last thing I think, is I'm not sure if one our both of these victories will be hollow for a great many of us that have worked so hard to take this country back from the
maniacal regime that has held it hostage for the last three years.

Play nice and Be Fair with one another.

1. Harkin ("I" as in Iowa) means what he says
Sen. Tom Harkin doesn't back down to threats, and he means it about liking them all. I'm glad he hasn't endorsed anyone (yet?).

Harken ("E" as in Enron) was Dubya's oil exploration firm.

3. Re: Harken interview today

I think I think most democrats are well aware of what bush has done to our country and we could parade a chimp up there and we'd vote for him (taking a chance on another would be better than the one we have)

The Democrats will band together, no matter who's the nominee... but who will win the hearts and minds of those swing voters?

I think the battle for the nomination is not about who is best to beat bush*, but which side of the democratic party will emerge victorious

If you believe the polls, I'd agree, it doesn't appear to be about who is best to face bush yet.
