Step ONE: Substitute "female" or "black" or "Inuit" or "left-handed" for "gay" in whatever the issue is and see if it's still no big deal.

Step TWO: There is no Step Two.

(Unless you want to make a complete ass of yourself trotting out the "but gays can pass" and "but nobody choses their race" and all the other dementia people toss around to try to frame their gut-level prejudices as reasoned argument.)

PS: Shout out to Jon Stewart for saying to Mike Huckabee's face, "...your religion is much more of a choice than being gay."

2. No need to tell me. I always substitute "Jews"

since I am one. I think "would I be offended if someone said this about Jews"? If the answer is yes then I figure the group in question has a right to be mad.

Of course with Warren it's easy, since he has said some stuff that I find fairly offended as a Jew.

because of who they are, needs the constitutional protection of the USA. Oh Obama, what are you thinking? this had to be a conscious choice that he knew would have an impact. if Obama turns out to be another politico instead of the hope for America and the world that so many hope that he is...
