Because of all the (strictly my opinion) ridiculous handwringing and emotional energy spent over appointments and such before the man can take office and begin governing?

I'm not saying that everyone should just continuously high-five each other for the next 4 to 8 years. That's not too meaningful (although it's fun!). But saying the sky is falling over some cabinet appointments is absurd. I suppose what I'm saying is that I feel that this 2 month in between lull is not a good time to be around places like DU because there's not much constructive to do, and a lot of mischief to be indulged in.

I'm not saying that the appointments etc. are not significant, they are. But because they are essentially the only real news going forward until January 20, some are picking them over and devoting the kind of emotional intensity seen during the primaries. It seems very overwrought. Just because one can express outrage over appointments etc. doesn't mean that it's necessary to do so.

3. This bullshit over Warren at the inauguration is making me hate this board
and the people on it. Seriously. We're as reactionary as the fucking Freepers.

6. Clearly Warren hasn't campaigned to deprive you of basic rights.
That does tend to change one's perspective.

8. People are acting the exact same way
the Religious-right did when Bill Clinton picked Billy Graham to give the invocation at both his inaugurations. They attacked Billy Graham the same way people on this board are attacking Obama. It was the same thing only in reverse. Kinda scary!

9. The religious right didn't work to get Bill Clinton elected, did they?

In fact, they worked against him all along. So there's a big problem with your comparison.

And if Clinton's pick had been notoriously bigoted against a minority, you're goddamn right there would have been an outrage from Democrats.

12. Christ, people are having fucking aneurisms over who is saying a few words to an imaginary...
...sky daddy. Get a fucking grip, people. I don't like this guy's homophobia, either, but I ain't blowing this out to insane proportions and doesn't change the fact that Obama is 100% for civil unions. Really, get a fucking grip.

7. Yep. And I keep saying I won't come in here tomorrow. Then
tomorrow comes and what do I do? Go to DU.

I'm actually considering quitting altogether.

10. I made the mistake of stopping by DU today.
This is political dead time - nothing better to do than whine, bitch, and moan, which liberals have really gotten used to doing under 8 years of George Bush.

Some people are having a hard time adjusting from perpetual dissent mode to governing mode.

11. I noticed when I was sick recently for a couple of weeks.
The down time allowed me to see the reactionary politics going on around me, all the while Bush and the rest of the war criminals rewriting history as they walk out the back door unscathed. It put my point of view into perspective for me. 1-20-09 can't come a moment too soon.
