Now he'll have to hang out with him once again. CBN's David Brody reports that Warren will give the invocation at Obama's inauguration next month. (The Rev. Joseph Lowery, a civil rights hero, will give a benediction.)

This time, though, the decision to get involved with Saddleback was actually not Obama's. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, run by the House and Senate, put together the program for the swearing-in ceremony. Congress, not Obama, invited Warren (as well as scheduling a musical performance by Aretha Franklin; here's hoping she doesn't reprise the 2005 inaugural performance of John Ashcroft's "Let the Eagle Soar").

5. My point was that the folks around here who seem to be reverting
to primaries mode need to stop, breathe, and maybe read this before CONDEMNING OBAMA AS A CORPOWHORE REICHWING HOMOPHOBE FASCIST GOOD SIR!

17. YOU implied I was a Hillary supporter in another thread so it is
YOU who is reverting back into primary mode and doing some serious PROJECTING here. I don't even like Hillary and you accused me of being her supporter just because i criticized Obama over this. some of us actually CARE about this issue so please don't accuse us of primary posturing when it is obviously YOU that is doing it.

Using their usual "reaching out" BS.

Their fingerprints are all over this.

If Obama objected to this there's no way the bigot would be invited.

15. I can't believe Obama had no choice in it if he had no choice
he's a piss poor leader then ain't he?

But wait....The program participants were invited by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies and chosen by the Chairman, the Presidential-elect and the Vice President-elect.

SO HE HAD A CHOICE. Amazing grace. UNLESS that damn Boehner got to him.

In addition to Senator Feinstein, the members of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies include: Senator Bob Bennett, Ranking Member of the Senate Rules Committee; Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid; Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi; House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer; and House Republican Leader John Boehner.

20. Actually, quite the opposite
Obama says he is a uniter who wants to reach out to people of faith even though he may disagree with them on social issues. He mentioned Rick Warren in his book and talked about how Warren and a few other pastors are leading a renewed focus on poverty among evangelicals.

21. Good point.
I'll probably find that Obama was smart in his decision. It might take a couple years, but it will probably happen, if the past is anything to go by.

28. Nah, it's a dumb move
As I've said, this is the usual "Look folks, look at what a bipartisan, awesome guy I am!" mumbo-jumbo that every president pulls sometime within their first two months or so. The result has always been the same - alienate the people who voted for you, and become the joke of the people who didn't.

It's nothing to have an aneurysm over, but it's not a smart move, either.

when he takes the podium. Silent, effective protest.

30. Am I allowed to cite DKos posters as a source?
According to many DKos posters, they called Feinstein's office and were explicitly told that Obama's office specifically requested Warren.

I have no pony in this show, I'm staying out of it. But this is what I read.
