7. It was a stupid choice. I think we all agree on that.
But the issue is whether to be outraged for weeks or to keep our eyes on the big picture.

9. Jim Wallis, who is the leader of The Sojourners. He has known Obama for 15 years and they are
friends. Wallis is a pastor and a Doctor of Divinity and would have been all inclusive and perfect.

On the other hand, I do commend the Rev. Lowery choice. He is pro-choice and for LGBT civil rights. So I am happy about that.

12. It was just on our news here in Ga. that Dr. Lowery from Atlanta will
deliver the benediction at the inauguration.

I haven't heard of any others, but it looks like Obama is just trying to be all inclusive.

14. I Get That
However The Good Rev. Lowery doesn't condemn others, in fact quite the opposite, and a man who does is being put on the stage with the new pres. for all the world to see. Now, I'm not thinking Obama agrees with the man on all things, but on such a crucial day, a day which is supposed to be about changing the world for the better, it is, IMHO, a sad visual. For until all people have been accorded equal rights and respect any change which comes will be incomplete.

An article on HuffPo suggests it was a political move designed to bring in RW votes. I truly hope such cynicism was not the reason.

15. Unless I'm misreading Obama, I really BELIEVE his when he said
we all HAVE to work togther. As I said before, I think this is one of his ways of bringing in the opposition.

We may disagree, but I can tell you about relatives of mine who were SCARED of black people, Gay people, Hispanic People, etc, and I believe it was because they never really met any "minorities" and were afraid of the unknown. Through the few jobs I've had, I've worked with, and become friends with almost every minority you can mention. Sure there were some I liked and became friends with, and some others that I didn't, but I'm not afraid! Almost all the relatives I'm talking about are now dead, so there's no way to try to convince them they were wrong.

Don't you think there's at least a possibility that if Obama brings people of different beliefs together, there's a possibility that both sides might realize that the fear & hatered they have felt for each other for so long is misplaced? I doubt either will change their "beliefs" but they may at least be willing to accept that the other guy is really a nice person who has different opinions on some issues?

16. Let us know when he reaches out to the KKK - only then will your claim have the remotest chance of
validity...

until then, you're blowing wind up our skirts...

18. I disagree with your analysis. The KKK as well as The Arian Nation
don't have much if any support outside of their own group. There's no need for anyone to reach out to them.

19. Good Point
However I really think we as a nation has to get to the point where fear isn't the determiner of our choices. I don't think we can continue to tell distinct groups of people to go along to get along and not mind or speak out about equality. Change never seems to come easy and when there is silence it rarely comes at all. I've also been thinking this morning about false neutrality, where for years the media presented both points of view as being equal. They aren't always. The last 8 years have taught us that if nothing else.

13. Is this dickweed getting his travel & lodging paid for?
If so, does it come out of campaign funds or government funds?
Either way, if this dick is not paying his own way, I am pissed about that.

21. This was a bad decision for many reasons.
Not only is Warren anti-gay, he's also anti-intelligent thinking. When the book was new, I tried reading TPDL until I came to the part that said it did not rain on earth until the flood of Noah. According to Rick and some obscure scripture, the pre-flood moisture came from underground. Book closed.
Choosing a person who ministers to wounded returning war veterans would have been my choice and one that even the so-called evangelicals could have agreed on. Maybe Obama will get my opinion next time!:)
