I don't know why we have to have some fucking religionist handing out incantations at the
inauguration anyhow.

I'm just sayin'

Anyone who says they speak for God is an asshole, homophobe or not.

how anyone allows them to use the name.

4. I agree about that, too.
My impression of this joker was that he was just a publicity hound... Hasn't Obama had enough of that?! x(

6. I kinda wish it were a REALLY crazy religionist, because that might be amusing.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 01:38 AM by LeftyMom
I'm thinking maybe Jack and Rexella VonImpe, or maybe Benny Hinn knocking people out of their wheelchairs.

I mean, if we're going to have crazy people talking to themselves, they might as well be amusingly crazy.

If elected president, I promise to have only goofy televangelists give any invocation required. Also, I expect a goddamn circle pit, and will arrange for a suitably awesome band.

7. I used to watch jack and Rexella while drunk every morning at 5 am or so....those were heady days
drinking and waiting for the End of Days. Fabulous.

8. That's a great idea! I love watching people faint.
Aren't they all in the slammer though?

Or is it only they should be?

10. For obvious crooks, they seem to be amazingly immune to prosecution.
Well, except for Kent "Dr. Dino"* Hovind. He's on a ten year vacation in Club Fed, but he's a purveyor of fake science, and not really a minister at any actual church that I know of, but maybe his cellies let him say grace over their trays.

*Not actually a doctor, though I suppose that almost goes without saying.

14. Because most of the people who don't want one already vote Democratic
Or in rarer cases, have so much money that they vote Republican. I'm sure the President-Elect was given a poll result showing him that the vast majority of "key demographics" want their leader to make overt public demonstrations of faith. I'm also sure that breaking with the tradition of overt public demonstrations of faith polls poorly among "key demographics".

When there is a majority coalition that doesn't want overt public demonstrations of faith by their President or that demographic suddenly becomes a "key demographic" then we'll start to see the end of prayers at the inauguration.
