1. haven't trusted warren ever--
but the "discussion" at saddleback during the campaign hammered the last nail in the coffin!!!!!

2. Obama is making a very big mistake.
He is trying to win southern support on the backs of gay and lesbian Americans. Just like FDR won over the south on the backs of black Americans.

FDR ignored the lynching, KKK cross burning and Jim Crow laws in order to get his new deal passed through Congress. Obama is doing the same thing but this time it is gay and lesbian Americans who are the victims.

Both are wrong.

Who gives the invocation at the inaugural is not very high on my list of concerns. It demonstrates nothing about Obama's policies.

and although I am offended that Warren will give the inaugural invocation, I am not outraged about it. Guess that makes me an impure, failed progressive.

17. I don't think Warren is a good choice
It's Obama's inauguration and he can do as he wishes.

with the controversy over the "debate" situation where it was widely rumored that McCain had been given an unfair advantage, I just don't think that Warren is a good choice.

If Obama is going for a "popularity" preacher, Joel Olsteen would have been a better choice.

To me, however, I would have thought that Obama would have wanted someone who had served as a spiritual advisor in a close relationship to the family. The choice should be a little more intimate in nature. Not Jeremiah Wright, of course - but surely they have a current pastor or friend who could have served at the inauguration.

19. I think the vast majority of DUers (including myself) do not approve, but the difference
lies in our reaction to the situation.

My reaction was to email change.gov. At the same time, I realized that Obama is not sexist--he is not anti-choice--he is NOT homophobic. So I accepted the fact that I might have to tolerate someone who I didn't like for a few minutes at the Inauguration. It's exactly what Obama warned us he would do (bring everyone to the table). As long as he actually gets something done during his term, I don't mind such gestures.

The sky isn't falling. PE Obama will be president and Warren will still just be some RW pastor.
