I'm sorry. I apologize for last night.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 08:16 AM by Barack08
I offer my hearty apologies to everybody I offended yesterday for saying that Warren giving the invocation was not a big deal. I thought about it all last night, and I came to the realization that it is a big deal. Obama letting this guy give one of most important roles of his inauguration gives an air of credibility to Warren when he deserves absolutely none.

Bluebear and others whom I offended: I'm sorry. I will now help lead the call to make sure Rick Warren is removed from his role as invocation.

3. I lasted about one hour before realizing how bad of a pick this was for our country.
And, I am one that has defended Obama on everything he's done since early 2007.

I will defend him on this.

4. Good OP, thanks.

A lot of "thinking about it all night" and coming to that realization is really needed, all over the country.

7. I admire your apology....you can probably forget this being changed....
BO cannot change this decision now. As much as he "might" want to, and that is highly debatable, he hands are tied. It would be political suicide for him to change it now.

8. We can change it.
We do not have much time, though.

9. Unfortunately, our protest, if successful, may be a Pyrric victory.
The press will be all over us as crazy lefties out to "get" the new President.

A lot of energy on this board is going toward this. Let's instead say, OK, I'm going to work all the harder to get equal rights for our GLBT brethren. That's doing something constructive.

As someone once said, "When all is said and done, more is said than done."

10. Teh hyperbolic comparisons to the Klan turned me off
but thoughtful comparisons to those who were warm and fuzzy about their bigotry during the 60's brought me to my senses on the thing.

I've never been so disappointed in Obama.

11. I don't understand how anyone can tell others that what they are feeling is no big deal.
I appreciate your apology.
