1. Other - Immediate marriage equality is important to me and I don't care about Rick Warren
It's a non-issue to me.

6. I certainly sympathize with that.
I've got no use for Warren myself--I find him abrasive in many ways--but I see this in context. It's a bone thrown to one of the few church leaders who actually has done something worthwhile in terms of social conscience and trying to present a more even dialog.

2. Other- Equality is important, and I agree with the choice of Warren, while I find him distasteful.

3. I voted option # 3
"Immediate marriage equality is important to me and I believe that Rick Warren is a great choice."

I think this will do more to help the long term goals of gay marriage (or perhaps civil unions because Obama IS on record before the election of supporting unions but not marriage). If the enemy is confused and isn't as opposed to you, it's easier to get them to agree to things they may not have previoiusly agreed to.

4. That's roughly where I'm at.
I am mildly personally disappointed at painful tactics, but I believe that it's a strategic coup.

8. #2 for me
Most Americans in The Great Middle aren't going to remember he gave the invocation three years from now, if that long.

11. The fact that Obama would give Warren a platform is an indication that no immediate marriage
equality is coming anytime soon. IMO.

14. I would have guessed the best indicator of that was the fact that he is on record as being against
gay marriage.

12. I read Obama's statement, and... of course
I have to trust him on this one. It's disappointing to me, but the Reverend guy gets nothing big out of being there, other than the respect he deserves as we tell him he's just a religious leader, not the leader of the free world, and he is free to hold his beliefs, and we are free to hold ours. That's the beauty of the USA. Obama will remind us of that. Let's disagree, but not be disagreeable.
