Even if that fascist Rush Limbaugh gave Obama's invocation, wingnuts will still not like Obama
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 06:07 PM by RiverStone
Some talking heads are suggesting that by giving bigot Warren a few minute platform for the invocation, that President Elect Obama is generating good will among the conservatives.

Drop by where freepers post and you will quickly see that their degree of prejudice and vitriol against the man Obama is so strong, that Rick Warren, Rush Limbaugh, or Ronald Reagan himself would not generate enough good will to earn their vote, much less their respect.

Sorry if I sound less than an optimist on this.

Despite Warren, given a chance for a do-over, the wingnuts will still march in lock-step. Tell me, just how many will be inspired to vote for Obama if given the chance....?

This time, the Obama team over shot their expectations. A mistake, albeit a rare one.

I remain absolutely thrilled he IS OUR PRESIDENT. If anybody has a snowball's chance of changing rightie minds, it is Obama himself - not a stand-in from the dark side in Warren.

7. Yes he did
I know quite a few conservative christians who voted for him. I don't think they'll be going back to the Repubs because they've seen how they've been used.

6. Obama wasn't trying to reach the freepers
He knows that those groups that don't even believe he is a citizen or that he is a manchurian candidate won't be swayed by Warren.

11. The Obama team made a rare mistake here...
I can't fathom who he was trying to reach with the Warren pick.

The good news is, he has made very good choices most of the time. I can't expect I/we will always be happy, just mostly so.

And I am! :hi:

15. The Warren pick was proably directed to those conservative christians
who feel they have other issues besides abortion and gay marriage.

I wished he had made another choice also but I understand why he did it. Warren cam under fire when he invited Obama to his church to speak about AIDS.

17. He could've got those types with T.D. Jakes
Or even Jim Wallis(who is, let's remember, just as prolife as Warren is).

8. And if Limbaugh did the invocation, the usual suspects would rush into DU,
lips stained with Kool-Aid, to announce that this was the most brilliant move in the history of politics and that anyone who has a problem with it is just not smart enough to appreciate that brilliance and probably voted for Hillary anyway.

Same as it ever was.

Same as it ever was.

12. He ran a brilliant campaign! But even Obama makes mistakes...
I know, you get that QC.

He made one here - yep, he did.

p.s. He is still brilliant!

13. He truly did run a brilliant campaign. That's why I do not believe the Warren fiasco
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 05:40 PM by QC
was a mistake, any more than the McClurkin fiasco was.

What we are seeing here is very deliberate...and very cynical.

14. Then if it is nothing more than another shrewd political move...
With full intent, even being very aware of the pain and anger it would cause, then I'd say he compromised too much of his values for politics.

It may be a masterful chess move, but even if that were to be true, the bad karma is not worth the gain, IMO.

Somethings simply hurt people. Regardless of the gain, IMO - it is not worth the hurt. Of course, I am not into politics because I don't believe seeking power is worth the price or the compromise.

16. I agree. Some things, no matter what political advantage they might deliver,
are just beyond the pale.
