I think its time to blow up DU
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 10:18 PM by Wolsh
Seriously, I think that we have all become too accustomed to playing the victim card over the last 8 years. Now that we have some power back the only thing we know to do is sabotage everything by overreacting and over annyalyzing every single move that Obama makes.

Its going to be a long four years and then, unless we can take our heads out of our collective asses, we're going to hand the power right back over to the republicans.

37. So true...
Many of us worked our asses off getting Obama elected but there are those posters who really belong in Freeperville - their posts would fit right in. Obama did this wrong, he chose the wrong person for this cabinet post or that one, he doesn't represent me, he said the wrong thing here, he said the wrong thing there, he didn't do this, he didn't do that......whine, whine, whine. Democrats are so very good at eating each other up. We'll be damn lucky if there are any Democrats or Democratic Party left by the next election. Great thing about bigots - they are the ones who usually yell at others the most for being what they are themselves.

17. Let folks vent and say what they will, etc....
This is just the beginning, not the end.

Obama will change things...and for the better.
But his presidency will not be fast food,
where folks get instant gratification with just some small things.

These are the same folks that questioned everything he did
during the primaries, then the General Election, and now too.

They have no faith....and that's ok, because Obama hasn't earned it yet....
and after George Bush, it is easy to understand why they might not be willing to go along...
but Obama will end up earning the faith and trust of millions,
and when he does, it will be unshakeable faith, which is the best kind.

The best has yet to come.
but there will be bumps along the way....
Obama told us this in each and every speech that he made,
so it is only a surprise for those who even when they heard him,
they weren't truly listening.

51. Hi JD, you must have taken a break, I haven't seen you around in a while.
I hardly recognize DU anymore. It's like an alternate universe. It's ironic, but those of us who scream the loudest about tolerance seem to have a very short supply of it. I've been called a "homophobe", a "centrist piece of shit", etc. by people who have no idea who I am. I understand and empathize with the LGBT community because I'm a Democrat, but this kneejerk lashing out at allies is just unseemly.

I can't think of one appointment Obama's made that hasn't been criticized up one side, and down the other here at DU. I don't envy his position.

A lot of DU regulars don't check in anymore because as I said, DU is unrecognizable these days. When I logged in yesterday, I swear I thought I had followed a bad link and wound up in Freeperville. I guess it's better to just stay away, and let your account lapse, than to get banned. I don't know anymore.......

and stand in our shoes, and stand up for us.

inviting Warren IS the beginning of handing the power right back over to the Republicans. the fundies are NOT going to play ball. Tony Perkins, that scum, said as much today.

let the more rational of the faithful open their eyes and stand up for us and join us.

as far as the dead-enders like Warren and his followers, let them become diminished and made inconsequential by millions upon millions standing up for equality and justice.

43. Heres what I think
there was a limited amounted of choices for President, those choices were thinned down by a primary contest which was supposed to decide the best candidates for a National election. I picked the best of the remaining choices which wasn't my primary choice. Now then, I refuse to attack that President elect before the inauguration, before any bills are proposed or signed, hence before he has actually done something substantial.

Is to NOT do one god damned thing for Democrats while in office. And putting Tom VilSuck, Rick Warren, Bob Gates, and Larry $ummer$ (among others) on the team certainly looks like steps in that direction. :evilfrown:

My only hope is that Obama is a bridge to a future where liberal leaders will eventually fight openly on behalf of liberal principles. I'm sort of OK with a president that looks and sounds center-right if he can pass some good legislation and start turning around attitudes. We can't wait much longer. The light that once was America is growing dimmer and dimmer with each passing year. The light that burns within each one of us will never be extinguished.
