. . .think about it. When has Jeremiah Wright EVER pushed legislation to deny folks of their rights? As a matter of fact I believe the United Church of Christ is progressive on LGBT issues.

Am I correct on this?

During the election season we kept hearing that Wright was a hate monger and equating Black Liberation rhetoric with that of hate speech. If you compare Black Liberation Theology to Rick Warren who advices hate more?

1. Wright was never as bad as some made him out to be
but will Obama make a special speech on Warren, that is what I want to know.

3. People were calling Wright a racist
That wasn't true. Wright's reputation took a bit hit. He received a lot of unfair criticism.

5. The difference is that Wright was media created and Warren is legitimate.
The outcry against Warren exists, the problems with Wright were largely confined to the talkings heads and people who were blinded by primary drama.

6. I never thought Wright was a hatemonger.
I don't know how that got constructed. He spoke truth about American race relations and got called a hatemonger. I thought it was shameful.

14. it got constructed because "hatemonger" is a better sound bite
than "critical of United States foreign and domestic policy", which ministers have been doing since the frickin' mayflower :/

i thought it was shameful as well

10. Well said.
If anyone deserves to be pushed under the bus it's Warren. Yet it's Rev. Wright who has been demonized.

Regards

13. Great analysis of Warren's views by TYT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpRDiZnebPE

It's long but great.

Starts off with Warren defending his support for Prop 8 because of "Freedom of Speech".

16. Of course there is. And people who call liberation theology hate speech
only demonstrate their ignorance.

17. Jerimiah Wright and Trinity UCC Chicago are inclusive
and Rev Wright has never had a cross word from me. Just as Wright has been an allie of my community, I have been an allie of his. The fact that Obama went to Trinty was a strong selling point to me, as I knew Trinity, and Wright, before I knew of Obama.
Trintiy UCC flies the rainbow flag, which is a fact I know, although I do not live in Chicago, nor use it as my identity. Ever get down that way at all?

As you know, the people who attacked Wright stand strongly with Warren. Jerimiah jumped under the bus, bless him. I had to be pushed. But I'm there with Wright now, in the corner watching Warren be treated as a hero.
