Small lesson on addressing an interest groups concerns
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 12:35 PM by Jake3463
I don't think Barack Obama is a bigot or anti-gay. I know he's a politian, a good one and for the most part an honest one who genuinely wants to move this country in the right direction. I also don't believe the vast majority of people on here who are trying to defend Barack on an insanely stupid decision hate gay people don't want gay rights.

As time goes on Barack is going to have to manage the democratic coalition and he better get better at it other wise he's going to have mutinies going on all over the place and will not be re-elected. That is a reality for a politian.

Instead what is going on is people now are generally ticked off rightfully so and now organizing.

When you tell people there are more important things to talk about it guarentees they will talk about it more and you insult them because you are saying their rights are less important than the economy, or healthcare, or someone else's rights.

When you tell people to wait their turn, sit down, shut up, stop it, etc...your only going to guarentee they get louder, angrier, and more vocal.

When you call people drama queens and say they are over reacting you show you have no empathy for what they are going through or have gone through you guarentee they are going to get angrier.

When you try to play it off as a brilliant strategy when in reality it was probably a gaffe and insentivity to a community in light of recent events you insult their intelligence.

When you say I'm going to wait for him to actually be President your being dissmisive of the concerns a community that has in the past been promised the world only to have the politian forget them as soon as they take the oath in the past.

So if anyone wants to understand why there are a million Rick Warren threads on here...there you go.
