My pics from Edwards rally in Detroit

I was at Laborfest 2004 yesterday(Sunday) in Ford Field in Detroit. Edwards gave a GREAT speech. I shook hands with him after as he surfed the crowd. Here's a couple of pics, I have more , but they are not as good as these two.

Great pics. Does anyone know what is orange/yellow (looks like plastic) bracelet? Kerry has one, too.

I did notice Kerry had one also. I have now met them both !!!!! What a great feeling !!!! the best i have felt in weeks !!!

I noticed it on Kerry first and now on Edwards.

I slowly weasled my way up to the bike rack type barrier !!! The other pics I have are from further back. My less than 1mp camera has no zoom, so they are not so good.

I want to see more of Edwards than we have recently. He needs to be everywhere, and especially in the media more...

From the angle that those pictures were taken it looks as if you are really tall.

I'm 6' 2" !! A few times Edwards was standing up on the barriers to reach out to us !!! The SS guys looked like they were going to shit themselves !

What a lift it gives me to see our guys out there fighting the good fight. Woooooooohoooooooo

I still have goose bumps !!! And this was like 4 o'clock this afternoon !!! I can't really tell you how great i feel !!! Cuz I'm not that talented a writer. Sometimes I get so discouraged and scared we will lose. BUT not today, cuz HELP IS ON THE WAY !!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could have been there !! I'm a transplanted new yorker, god i miss the ocean !!!! and good pizza, and bagels !!! Oh well, maybe i'll go see mom for thanksgiving or christmas.

And Edwards again, I think this was when he was standing back laughing because the crowd wouldn't stop chanting No More Bush.


My favorite display at labor fest was the one from the Labor History Society - They had tons of old photos of Detroit Unions striking, getting pounded by Ford anti-union thugs, etc. One of the guys manning the booth was involved in hunger strikes back in the 30's, and later hung out with Cesar Chavez and Reuther. He was telling me about the grape and lettuce boycotts, and how he and his buddies would find grocery stores that refused to honor the boycott, and they'd go and load up their shopping carts with a layer of grapes and lettuce, then a layer of ice cream, wander about the store for a while, then at the registers change their mind about buying anything and walk out, leaving the cart to melt in the July heat. He got hauled off to jail for that.

Those are some nice shots !!! We must have been within a few feet of each other at some point !!! Too bad we didn't know it !! I saw the display you mentioned, I love them old pics, those people had some courage !!! I met one of the strikers also, at a play called "Forgotten" about a guy that was killed during the Ford strikes. It was written by his grandson!

The woman I originally went with (at noon) was in the cast, but she couldn't stay past 1:00. She was the one that introduced me to the guy at the labor history booth, David Moore (I think). He spoke to the cast when they were working on the play.

I am still kicking myself for not getting tickets to that; they were sold out by the time I called.

I think from your photos we were very close to each other. I was wearing an "I (purpleheart purpleheart purpleheart) Kerry" shirt, in the front row, left of center (heh).

well i saw you shirt !!!about 10 minutes after Edwards finished I was coming back in from having a smoke and I saw you walk by, it took me a moment to register what your shirt meant (duh) I was going to go after you to say i liked the shirt !! I was wearing a shirt that said, "I bet you will vote this time hippy" with *shrub giving the peace sign !!!
That is so cool, Did your friend perform at laborfest? Because one of the singers was from the show. Well it was nice to have almost met you !!!!

If it had a peace sign in the O of vote, I know who you are - I made the girl next to me turn around to check out the shirt when we were waiting for them to open the barricades.

My friend didn't perform at laborfest, but she introduced me to a bunch of people involved in the show.

That was me !! I remember being there then, but i didn't see you until later. Everyone all day was loving that shirt !!! We walked all over the place, and then my wife's volunteer shift started. So I made my way back to the stage, and the rest is history ! Maybe next time we can meet ! My wife and I are much involved in this race as I know you are as well, so we are bound to cross paths again. Nice web sight , BTW!!!!!!
