Bush and Obama have one thing in common: physical fitness...
As recent photos of Obama demonstrate and Bush's longtime love of running and cycling show.

Prior to these two we really haven't had a "fit" President since perhaps Lincoln (if that).

It would be a good thing if they would both step up the level of awareness of physical fitness issues - diet (including working to make commercial food sources (restaurants, packaged foods, etc.) healthier and making healthy foods more easily available to the working poor, exercise, preventative medicine, proper rest and better ways to handle stress.

It would also be a good thing to start restructuring our communities to make them more pedestrian and cycle friendly with bike and walking paths and bringing an end to suburban sprawl and big box store shopping malls.

So much of the problem with medical care in this country is the result of lifestyle choices - bad diet, no exercise, overwork, drinking, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc.

1. Lincoln was very fit.
According to what I have read Lincoln was incredibly strong and would often entertain people with his feats of strength.

2. Jimmy Carter used to run 10K races
JFK was a strong advocate for fitness, though in reality, he was a physical wreck.

3. I also overlooked Gerald Ford...
duh...

He was a football all American and turned down a contract to play for Green Bay to go to law school instead... (apparently the NFL didn't pay as much in those days..) and Jerry was still in good shape as President too swimming and skiing were his thing now that I remember.
