I Am Having An Inauguration Party, Are You?
Although the inauguration takes place in the morning here on the west coast, I am having a brunch and get together at my house for some of our fellow Democrats who are very, very happy that Obama will be sworn in on January 20th.

Mr. Gilligan is taking the day off to be here. :) Some of you may remember that I posted that I am letting my kids stay home from school so they will not miss out on this event. :)

I am making quiche and serving a fresh fruit tray, pastries, cheese and a Honey Baked ham. Friends will bring what they feel like bringing. :toast: We will also have champagne!

:bounce::bounce:

After 8 years of W and his ilk, we are celebrating.:fistbump:

Happy Holidays DU!

1. If I bring a bottle of wine and you serve something else, do I get to take
my wine with me when I leave?

Just kidding! Wish I could be there with you

2. Awwww!
You could come if you were out here... No, the wine stays. Sorry, we don't give wine refunds here on Gilligan's Island.

10. NO FAIR!!!! I want one!!!! Waaahhhhh!!!11111 My husband says
I can't get one yet. We have a 16-y/o corgi/lab mix who has been a handful for all of his 16 years and it looks like he's gonna live until he's 25 at this rate.

He was my husband's choice of dog and I love him dearly. But sometimes I'd give my right arm for a cute little guy that I can cuddle. Give him a smooch for me, okay?

19. She is absolutely adorable. Does she act like she's a huge dog?
And does she run the house? I love dogs like that, even though The Dog Whisperer wouldn't approve. :)

7. ...
If I don't go to DC, then yes I'll definitely be having a very boisterous party here. :D We formed a nice little community group at our house meeting and I think it would be great to get those 14 or so people together for some fun. :D

BUT...I fully plan on being in DC that day. Nothing is going to ruin my fun, that's for sure. I'm determined.

12. I'm thinking about doing something similar
The festivities start at 10 a.m. with the swearing in at noon. I really wanted to go to DC, but decided to stay home and have a brunch or something. I'm definitely taking the day off.

15. No, I'm not having, or attending, a party.
I'll host parties to celebrate the following:

The passage of HR 676.

The repeal of NCLB and the Patriot Acts.

The demise of NAFTA/CAFTA.

The day there are no longer any U.S. troops, or U.S. sponsored mercenaries, in the middle east.

18. Then
You are not at all happy that McCain - Palin wasn't elected?

I agree that I want all you want -

But I also see a chance for progress.

20. Relieved is a better choice.
I'm relieved that it's not McCain/Palin.

I'm not happy that it's Obama.

That said, I will join you in hoping that there is a chance for progress. The administration that Obama has put together diminishes that small hope to a barely discernible flicker, but I'll be there to offer help and support for every positive step in the leftward direction.
