David Gregory Is An Asshole..........
just listening to him interview Axlerod and he is trying to make a story where there isn't a story. Why they picked Gregory for MTP is beyond me?

MC Rove, Featuring David Gregory
Since MTP is now all but unwatchable, I present to you David Gregory in a far more entertaining (and illuminating?) moment: serving as a backup dancer for MC Karl Rove last year.

7. Gregory is doing his job; he's paid to ask hard questions, not throw softballs like Larry King
I wonder myself how Blago knew he'd get nothing but appreciation from the Obama administration. (And Obama deserves credit for that, by the way. That means the administration has some ethics.)

12. First, Condi is on her way out. It was a graceful exit interview. (If it were this week with Gaza,
that interview would have been very different.)

Secondly, Condi was not directly involved with any pressing government scandal, other than being a part of the Bush administration, but that's a given. Sadly, Blago has threatened to taint a lot of people. I wonder who is backing Blago that he feels safe enough to take on the administration.

that Gregory let Condi get away with way too much in the interview, I don't care that she's "on her way out", since the Bush policies will have a greater effect than the Blago gasms. One question about torture would have been nice.

If I'd been Rahm, given what Blago said to Valerie, I would have thought Blago was just asking for a post in the new admin when he said "I guess all we'll get from this is appreciation" (to which, as was reported last week Rahm said "yes") not money.

23. He hasn't been the same since
Bush ridiculed him for speaking French.

I too noticed how he went from being one of only 2 or 3 that acted like a reporter w/ this admin from the start. But after the French thing he seemed to do a 180.

I also thought he did a few very good interviews w/ some hard core neocons on the Road to The White House show, so I wasn't too upset about him getting the MTP position. But so far he's really been a disappointment.

I still think they should have picked John Harwood.

Edited on Sun Dec-28-08 12:33 PM by Clio the Leo
.... I love Axelrod, I truly truly do, but Gregory was running over him in that interview. Ax is just too nice.

After the now infamous handling Robert Gibbs did to Hannity after one of those debates and since he IS the incoming press secretary, I dont understand why he's not as the "voice" of the administration.

(here is the above mentioned butt-whooping Gibbs gave Hannity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2AaqcaMkU8

(best part was when he MADE Hannity take that piece of paper)

Sometimes I don't think Axelrod is the best spokesperson, though I love him too. And he sounded very annoyed when he said "I'm not going to answer than question"! (though I can't really blame him, haha).

lol...I love the Jason Linkins' articles on the Sunday shows each week. His take on Gregory/MTP:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/28/tv-soundoff-sunday-talkin_n_153758.html#postComment

"
OH GOD. "Has the president decided to put off any tax increases? Or even a middle-class tax cut, as he talked about, for the short term?" PLEASE NOTE: a "middle-class tax cut" is thus equated with a "tax increase." What Gregory is basically asking is "Surely these economic conditions are such that Obama has reconsidered the whole idea of taxing the top five percent of Americans while giving the middle class a break." By the way, were economic conditions precisely the opposite, Obama's plan would be treated with similar skpeticism, because the accepted media trope where taxation is concerned is that the sort of economic conditions that would necessitate the sort of tax plan Obama has promoted do not exist and have never existed.

Axelrod answers, humanely, "We feel it's important that the middle class gets relief now and we've promised a middle class tax cut."

Gregory, with increasing desperation: "WILL YOU HOLD OFF ON ANY TAX INCREASES?!?!?" Axelrod says that they are going to let the Bush tax cuts expire. Gregory replies: "OKAY! BUT THAT IS AN INCREASE! IT IS! SERIOUSLY! ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT! THAT'S AN INCREASE! GOOD GOD, NO! AN INCREASE! SERIOUSLY! OH MY STARS AND GARTERS! ARE YOU SURE? SURE YOU WANT TO DO THAT?"

"We'll make that decision going forward."

GREGORY: "OKAY! OKAY! OKAY, I GUESS! BECAUSE THE COMMITMENT WAS THAT YOU WERE GOING TO DEFINITELY RAISE THOSE TAXES! THAT'S AN INCREASE!"

Axelrod says, "I also want to stress that what the President-elect talked about during the campaign amounted to a net tax cut."

I have to applaud Axelrod for actually indulging Gregory's nonsense, because usually he just jumps to the indefatigable reality that despite proposing increases on SOME taxpayers, the net effect is a tax cut. A tax cut. A tax cut. A tax cut. I am pretty sure that someone on the Obama team CAME ON THIS VERY GODDAMNED SHOW and said that. I would, at this point, if I could, storm this stage with my own gotcha footage and make David Gregory watch this explanation, given by various people on the Obama campaign a MILLION BILLION times, and just ask: "David? Are you just thickheaded or something? Could we use your cranium as a powerful shield against radiation maybe? Is your skull the densest material known to man? Does it have it's own, special, gravitational field or something?"

20. I think he KIND of answered the question.....
... which is why I didn't make a whole new thread on it.

He said that his job in the admin. would be to help be the voice of Barack's policies and help "communicate it to the American People" or something along those lines.

I also suspect that Gibbs would be seen as more of an official "voice of the President" in that, when he's in office, when Gibbs speaks, he's speaking on behalf of Barack which is not EXACTLY the same thing as what a pundit would do on a Sunday morning talk show.

But what do I know.
