I was around for all of those horrid events as well. This is probably why I heard a report on TV Saturday that the Secret Service was really nervous when he went to lunch with his girls. He was allowing the public so close and the agents were getting really freaked out...and those guys don't get freaked out about much. The Secret Service do feel, according to the same report, that once he is in office they will have more authority to get him to comply. Somehow, I think this guy is going to want to continue to have that contact with the public.

Just...please keep him safe.

but I was flipping between CNN and MSNBC so it could have been either. The report showed Obama and his daughters sitting in an outdoor restaurant with the crowds of tourists and locals getting very close to them. There were several obvious Secret Service guys there and even I could tell they were a bit antsy. The reporter said that the Service was extremely nervous about this close contact between Obama and the crowd and that they hoped to be able to contain this kind of contact once he was sworn in. Freaked out was my word but one of the guys was having real trouble keeping an eye on each side of him as people were crowding in toward Obama. You could tell he was not happy with the circumstances.

focus on his safety. Not on the danger, but on his safety. Just focus on keeping him safe.

I remember looking up into my dad's eyes like this. Sweet, and sincere, trying to get my way. My dad got that same look that Obama has. Like he was not going to get played. Not this time. haha Sure. Right before he gave in.

I know. Puberty is like that. By the time he's out of office in 8 years (she'll be eighteen) he'll be smart again, except for Sasha who'll still think he's dumb (she'll be fourteen or fifteen I think).

The guy is surrounded by Secret Service, press photographers and of course adoring fans who flock to him wherever he goes but he seems to somehow ignore all the chaos and just hang out with friends and family just like any guy out for a day off.
