It appears that our favorite appetizer here at DU is other Democrats. The problem is that other elected Democrats just won't jump through our hoops or bow and kneel to our demands. This country would certainly run more perfectly if DU were totally in charge of running things. Oh hell, make that the world, we ought to think big.

despite "progressive" posturing, imperialism can happen anywhere, not just the middle east. :)

And regardless, "mass murder" of civilians is still mass murder, no matter who attacked who first.

14. It is very vexing that Fitz has yet to get that indictment.
It makes no sense to me, if he has all the evidence he believes he has, he has said he has. Indictments are the easy part, trying the defendant within the allotted time under the federal speedy trial act is another. Not to mention all of the tainting of the jury pool - I predict that a motion for change of venue or dismissal based on highly excessive and prejudicial pre-trial publicity in the works.

Hell, all of DU assumes Blago is guilty, we are purportedly the progressives, the bleeding heart liberals that believe defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

27. In makes no sense to me - unless he doesn't want to
try the case within the first 3 months of the year.

Federal Speedy Trial Act provides

Title I of the Speedy Trial Act of 1974, 88 Stat. 2080, as amended August 2, 1979, 93 Stat. 328, is set forth in 18 U.S.C. §§ 3161-3174. The Act establishes time limits for completing the various stages of a federal criminal prosecution. The information or indictment must be filed within 30 days from the date of arrest or service of the summons. 18 U.S.C. § 3161(b). Trial must commence within 70 days from the date the information or indictment was filed, or from the date the defendant appears before an officer of the court in which the charge is pending, whichever is later. 18 U.S.C. § 3161(c)(1).

But if he has the evidence he claims to have, he should be prepared to go to trial.

I don't get it.

33. I seriously doubt that he has concerns about a job
He is a good prosecutor - Obama via Holder will not get rid of all the US attorneys, those over offices and in charge of divisions will probably be replaced.

I suppose he could be waiting for the new admin, for the sake of uniformity. It will be very hard to seat a jury - the negative press and the amount of it has Blago guilty. That is a sad state of affairs considering that "innocent until proven guilty" is the basis of our justice system.

I can categorically state that my own view of Blagojevich requires a lower standard than a court of law ....

I have already decided the man is scum, given his attempted shakedown of the Childrens Memorial Hospital .... I don't need a court of law to determine that even TRYING to do this is a huge turd in the Governor's punch bowl ....

In his own immortal words : Fuck him ....

57. Exactly. If the Democrats are going to stay on top, we need to police ourselves.
We're not Republicans. We don't have room for corrupt assclowns like Stevens, Cunningham, Ney or Blagojevich. We police our party. When we find that one of our own has been caught in corruption, we kick his sorry ass to the curb.

We must hold our elected officials to high standards. The Republicans certainly won't.
