I didn't particularly like her. One classmate said, were Elena to become President, she (classmate) would leave the country.

Hopefully Obama knows better than we did.

based on my high school actions:)

Thankfully, more than a few grow out of their giant id.

4. Do NOT judge a person based on high school.
I know from firsthand experience that
teenagers grow up and become very
decent adults, sometimes surprisingly
so.

6. Oh yeah, that was kind of the point of the last sentence
She served in Clinton's administration and is currently Harvard Law School dean. The only thing I've heard about Harvard is that she coddles the conservatives a little too much, which of course is all relative too.

8. I have a list of high school teachers I disliked then but understand much better now
They challenged me, I wanted an easy grade. Thinking back 15+ years later, I am glad they were hard on me and forced me to work hard for my grades.

I'm a bit suspicious of anyone named "Kagan". Is she related to any of those three?

11. I don't think so
I only know for sure that her mother taught at the elementary school associated with the HS, and her brother now teaches HS there. What her father did I don't know.

10. You should have known the stoners I knew in HS
that have since grown up to be very successful and sober business folks and pillars of their community - HS years are not always the formative years that some folks claim they are - for many (especially the really bright students) the challenge of HS was relating to the other students who thought HS was the be all, end all. Boredom shows itself in a variety of ways.

12. Ageed!
If anything, sometimes high school held the brighter students back because of social--not academic--situations.

13. Those teenage movies about the cool kids and the
"mean girls" were based on personal experiences - they were not created out of the blue.

You couldn't pay me to go through that stage, to be that age again.

22. I had some special teachers
but the stress of coming of age isn't worth the experience of seeing them again.

I was the student that tested the teacher if they used a broad brush and tried to shame the class. I only pushed back once they forgot their purpose and belittled students.

I've met several of my former teachers, they are just as neat when you know them as an adult as they were when you knew them as their student.

and the frustrations they contend with day in and day out could test the Holy Mother. It must be frustrating to try to get some response and none are forth coming because of a multitude of reasons (boredom, don't give a shit, too scared, too loaded, to afraid of not being cool, etc.) They lose their cools and they strike out, belittling the class is just one way - some did that out of pure meanness and others out of love, but it still was a last resort tactic that just about every teacher I know used (and those I know today, still use).

She served under Clinton controversy free and only missed a Federal judicial nomination because the Pugs sat on several of his would be appointments to the bench.

As for the Latin, email me if you want the scoop on it and the HS.

25. I wrote a newspaper column for almost three years. It concerned my
experiences and reactions to situations that I found while walking a trail at a local park. Apparently, I had a pretty vast following. The town was close to 100,000 in population.

At one of my high school reunions, the 30th, I believe, I was approached by my sophomore English teacher and she was beaming that she had managed to teach a few things to at least one of her former students.

It pleased me that I pleased her.
