Emergency officials were on the scene of a hazardous materials situation at Rep. Bobby Rush's office on Chicago's South Side this afternoon.

Police said a piece of threatening mail was sent to the office, but its contents were not immediately known.

Firefighters responded shortly before noon to the Democratic congressman's office at Champlain Avenue and 79th Street, according Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez.

No injuries were reported.

Further details were not immediately available and representatives in Rush's office could not immediately comment.
