Will DU still be able to support Obama if he decides to become an independent
and have change.gov become the base for his new party.

I believe this may underline the Dean situation. Obama and his transition team seem to what to keep everything separate from the DNC. Also an IND status would make it easier to work with Congress.

I'm not certain if it would play well with the voters in 2012. What do you think?

changing parties, or starting a new one.

What if Gort and Klaatu land? Which side will DU support?
These important issues must be hashed out before we get to them.

23. Won't happen.
Party politics, meaning the Republican and Democratic parties, are what run this country. The reason no other political party has made any kind of headway here is that none of them have a clue how to go about building from the grass roots up. Obama was so amazingly successful because he understood how to tap into the grassroots of the Democratic party and built an incredible base of his own, within the Democratic Party. He's not going to suddenly say he's the head of a new political party. He would lose the support of the Democratic Party institutionally, as well as much of the support and good well of all the Democratic Representatives and Senators and Governors.

It's slightly possible he'll try to get the Party to move in a different direction, but become and Independent? You must be joking.

31. My guess is that there are millions of Americans who identify themselves as being Black
or African American who may be mixed race, half White or less. It's Obama's choice to legitimately identify with the Black half of his heritage even though he certainly does not deny his mother's heritage.

29. This would be diametrically opposed to his very set methods
In case you haven't noticed, he goes with the flow. This is not a boat-rocker. This is not a bold innovator. He may well prove to be very effective in the long run, but whatever he's going to do is going to be firmly rooted in THE SYSTEM.

32. Not even sworn in yet and you have him changing parties?
This is really out of control. People need to let Obama out of this tiny little stereotypical box their trying to cage him into and let him be him. I'm sure they will be pleasantly surprised at the results of his actions, even if they can't understand them right now.
