We need more government jobs
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 11:55 AM by Onlooker
Reagan's privatization and job cutting was a long-term disaster for this country. As a result of Reagan, our government grew weaker and weaker, and the lie that private enterprise is better than government promulgated. The fact is that the only reason government sometimes seems worse than private enterprise is because government is far more transparent. Government officials when caught don't get golden parachutes. Government errors when caught aren't corrected with ad campaigns and coupons. Even in money matters, the government if anything is at least as responsible and honest as private enterprise. The total numbers I've seen for all US debt are around $50 trillion, and government is only responsible for 20% of that. Thus if we're worried about reckless spending, the bigger culprits are ourselves and corporations, not government.

The great Democratic Presidents grew government, created tens of thousands of jobs in government where people were far less than in private enterprise to be victims of unfairness.
