3. Not the "commie version" it's the version Woody Gutherie wrote.
Although I think the commie parts he added later. I love Woody and Pete!

5. So happy Pete Seeger snuck that most important
verse in and on national TV...possibly on a DVD? Scores of people heard a verse they've never heard before.

6. F'ing Pete Seeger is quite spry for 90 something.
And yes he sang the entire song - including its advocacy for the abolition of private property.

9. LOL!
I thought I was the only one who caught that!

As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!
:applause:

17. In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

I believe these are the complete lyrics:

20. Seeger was the highlight of the show for me....

... Pete Seeger is a "commie" from way back (and I mean that as a compliment.) As I'm sure we all know, he arranged the version of "We SHall Overcome" as we now know it and was a regular at the Highlander "Communist Training School" in Monteagle, TN. (The "Communist" slander was a lable used by southern lawmakers in an effort to get the place shut down.)

It was where Rosa Parks and other participants in the civil right's moment learned about, yep, community organizing ;) and non-violent protest BEFORE they got to work (before Rosa got on that bus, she had some training.)

One of the chapters in my Master's Thesis was about Highlander ..... and my father was one Highlander's "graduates." :)

(Pete Seeger is not in this photo, but Martin, Rosa and my father are)
