Nothing has changed. There is no change yet. Everything is the same.
What there is is a wonderful feeling, a feeling of expectation, of relief, of exhilaration. But nothing has changed yet and I suspect that nothing will change quickly. Everyone here needs to put their Congressperson on speed dial. We need to get ready to email...after this week, the Republicans in Congress have to crush this man, they have to, and we have seen over these past many months what a bunch of cowards the Dems are.

This man has no business being President and there are people out there (not the folks with the guns) who need for him to fail...for this man to succeed means so many bad things to so many bad people that it is hard to describe.

So, we can all talk, but we really have to be alert. Tuesday is going to be a glorious day and then the real work begins.

1. The LAST THING we need is complacency!
We have some momentum now, let's make sure we follow through. This administration is going to need all the energy and help it can get from the populace to enact real change!

4. Truly. One of the things about Bush was that he made everyone
think that things would be easy. Here is a guy who had everything handed to him so he perfected the routine. War would be easy because only the poor folks would go.Economic crisis would be easy because all you had to do was spend your way out of it. Under GWB people got used to easy and there was never, ever a mention of joining together as a country and making some sacrifices. This is going to be a novel experience for the American people.

7. I have sacrificed a lot unwillingly during the Bush administration, so
those sacrifices are going to have to be made by someone else, maybe all those billionaires created during those years because I'm stretched to the limit.

12. So, with all due respect, you're going to sit back now and wait to be saved?
How does that work?

18. I really don't get what you are saying, but let me say this, you
can't squeeze blood out of a turnip and that's where I'm at. It's time for the uber wealthy people and corporations to start paying their fair share of taxes to turn this economy around instead of gambling it on Wall Street and/or hoarding it. I have gone back to work as retirement isn't working for me money wise and I'm almost seventy. It's all the strength I have left. There is nothing else I can sacrifice without becoming a burden to society. So far I haven't had to rely on the kindness of strangers to make ends meet. What else would you want me to do? What will I do when I can't work? What can I sacrifice then when there is nothing left?

20. I don't see any energy at all--just a lot of people
buying into the "be patient" thing. Nothing at all happening or going to happen.

Fine with me. I am ready for the riots to begin.

And trust me--there will be riots and sooner than anyone thinks.

22. I hope it won't come to that...
I am ready to do whatever it takes to spare lives and avoid violence, but it's good to be prepared in any case. There is nothing to make us believe we are immune from the problems and tragedies every single empire in the history of humankind has endured when their greedy overclasses overreach.

2. We need our symbols...
And Obama is a huge symbol of hope.

But of course you're right: After Tuesday, the real work begins. And it won't be easy, not one little bit.

But still...

Today, and every day including Tuesday, we will celebrate this amazing transition!

:fistbump:

6. certainly encouraging, but just words at this point.
Even the quote from Assad: ""I would talk more about hope than expectation."

Let's follow THROUGH.

5. Torture will end, Gitmo will close, Iraq War will end
He doesn't have to do anything else for any sane person to recognize that as substantial change.

9. Will we be notified when the wiretapping ceases? Cuz I'd like to know.
Wednesday will be BOP+1. I wonder how high the number will go before we see any of the three things that you mentioned. Not to mention other things such as DADT and rollback of the tax breaks for wealthy folk.

13. BOP+1 = B, Obama is President for 1 day
DADT = Don't Ask Don't Tell policy in the military.

He's asking how soon in the presidency any really progressive things will begin to occur.

8. I despise the "call your rep" thing
instead FIND YOUR LOCAL OBAMA GROUP & GO PHYSICALLY TO YOUR REP. Face-to-face seems to be the ONLY SUCCESSFUL METHOD. Don't let them ignor you, an email CAN be ignored; you gotta be a thorn in their side. You'll have to arrange a schedule, what with jobs/kids etc. *******Please consider my methods******

about the corruption with the America Supports You propaganda/self-enrichment scheme.

She and others like her deserve our support.

19. Rebublicans might not need to crush him. . .
the problem is (and sadly enough) that he may crush himself.

If nothing happens, if there is no immediate change, if things get a whole
lot worse very soon, that will spell the end.

We are freefalling into disaster, and we need the hero that we were so grandly promised.

We need that hero NOW!

One of the most dangerous things I have observed thus far is all of the cries
for "patience."

People who supported Obama on the basis of his promises are now being told that they
must be patient and wait for change. We must wait, even though property, prosperity and even
life itself are at stake. For millions of people, change is a matter of life and death.

Code Blue everywhere, but no rescue--we must wait.

House on Fire, flames licking at our heels, but we must be patient and wait.

Funny that!

We've been waiting for EIGHT LONG YEARS. Now we must continue to wait.

The Nation is going to HELL IN A HANDBASKET, and we are asked to be patient and wait.

Where the hell is the NEW DEAL? Where is it?

This, I fear, will be the problem...we are in critical condition--there's no time to lose,
but we are told to be patient.

Makes me and a whole lot of others very suspicious.

23. Obama needs to ask us to get involved

I'm sure his advisers have updated him about the economic/financial crisis. Obama needs to quickly get a plan, tell us the severity of the crisis, and let us know how we all can help. This country needs a leader, someone we can all look up to and guide us.

The answer is not to go shopping, but sacrifice and help our family and neighbors. Community efforts, everyone involved.

there will be times when the hated dems will push for change and the beloved Obama will resist it.
