As an Iowa native I think those of us who caucused for Obama owe ourselves a nice pat on the back.

of whom most supported McCain. We refrained from thanking the group for their support. :P

And edit to add: Thank you! Iowa proved that rural whites could vote for a black man and that the policies were going to drive the primary race, NOT personality. Obama had a corner on both but his policies were what led him to victory.

5. Who can ever forget those Obama volunteers? What a dedicated group!
Every now and then we hear a story of where they have drifted too. Thank you, Carrianna and Liz and Nick and all the rest whose names I can't remember.

We got it rolling, but the Obama campaign in Iowa was UN-FRICKIN-PRECEDENTED!!

I've lived through many caucuses, and never has such a well-oiled political machine graced our state.

My husband went to hear Obama speech and he returned home completely shell shock, "Holy shit. This
guy is the real deal. I'm almost scared to believe in something so wonderful. Could this possibly
be happening?"

It was phenomenal to experience it up close!

I was an undecided voter, still grieving because Gore wasn't running. I listened to all of the candidates
speak and then ended up at an Obama house party--hosted by an acquaintance who had voted for Bush twice.
Talk about being intrigued!

Then, Obama canvassers showed up in my driveway and they called. They were some of the most gracious,
kind-hearted, intelligent people I've ever met. They were all so young, too! Within a week, the
Obama callers knew my kids names and what my major issues were. It was so impressive, and it was obvious
that this campaign was genuinely interested in each American...not just their votes, but their issues.

Then, I got a call from Obama and I had the opportunity to discuss my concerns about our Constitution
and our democracy. What a trip.

I ended up being a precinct captain for Obama, and I converted many neighbors and friends.

That's the Obama campaign in a nutshell. Inspiration and leadership from the top leads to..."change happens from the bottom up".
That's how he campaigned and that's how he'll govern as President.

Nothing short of REMARKABLE.

I've teared up so many times this morning, it's like a long, slow happy cry! :)
