IF President Obama had NOT "repeated after" John Roberts' oath goof...
...and said it properly (as he apparently was going to do but stopped himself), do you think there would've been any political or legal repercussions (manufactured, of course)?

Just pondering...

6. Roberts misquoted the oath - he said "to excecute the Office of President of the US faithfully"
...instead of "to faithfully execute the office of POTUS." Obama was going to say it the right way, but stopped and let Roberts repeat it AGAIN - WRONG. Obama repeated what Roberts said.

For the CJSCOTUS to mess up like that, is astonishing.

5. I don't know.
but the form of the oath is fixed in the constitution.

Article II Section I.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

9. I understand how this happens. Every once in a while, I'll goof up the vows
at a wedding or baptism. In prepping for those events, I always tell the couple, the baptizand, or the parents and sponsors that they'll be married, or they or their child will be baptized afterwards, no matter how I fumble the words. It's true here, too.
