the dow jones industrial verdict on the bush years: down
the dow jones industrial average when shrub took over: 10,587.59.
the dow jones industrial average as of now: 7,949.09

result: down 2,638.50, or 24.92%.
that works out to a loss of 2.82% per year.

yes, the dow jones is a wierd average to use and i'm not addressing issues like dividends, it's just a convenient, popular metric. it doesn't matter, any way you slice it it's not remotely pretty. the stock market rarely goes down over an 8-year stretch, but this is pathetic.

shrub set out to screw the majority in order to serve the interests of a narrow constituency, and at the end of the day, he screwed them, too.
