Paterson in Free Fall: Poll shows Him Losing Ground Vs. Cuomo and Rudy
David Paterson's once formidable leads over Andrew Cuomo and Rudy Giuliani have all but disappeared as a consequence of his incompetent handling of the Caroline Kennedy matter and the perceived inept appointment of Blue Dog Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand to succeed Hillary CLinton as New York's US Senate.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALBANY, NY. AP. The latest poll shows Attorney General
Andrew Cuomo and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani within
striking distance of Gov. David Paterson in matchups for the 2010
race for governor.
The Siena College poll finds Paterson with a 2 percentage point
lead - 35 to 33 percent - over fellow Democrat Cuomo. Paterson had
a 23-point lead in December.
The poll also shows Paterson leads Giuliani, a Republican, 44 to
42 percent. That's a statistical dead heat in a poll with a 4-point
margin of error. Paterson led Giuliani 51 to 38 percent in
December.

1. Geeze, Cuomo or RUDY? Oh icky. I don't think Paterson is much
better, but he's a dem. Although the only thing that makes Paterson even desirable are the two jackals he's got for opponents. But not by much judging from his performance since he took office.

I live in California, so.... what do I know?

3. You mean like Pataki? New York is not...
as Democratic, or liberal, as you might think-- there's a whole 'nother world north of White Plains and on the other side of the Hudson.

(Even NYC elected that prick Rudy, then still didn't learn and elected him again.)

4. That's the area that elected Senate-designate Kirsten Gillibrand.
However, if I have to pick between Rudy or Andy as Governor, I go with Andy Cuomo. Thank you for playing Mr. Paterson.

Frankly, I wasn't in a rush to get rid of him. They let that diaper wearing prick stay in the Senate didn't they? And Mr. Wide Stance hasn't gone anywhere either. But I guess it's okay if your a Republican.

20. I agree too, I thought Spitzer was good for the state. As for Rudy,
I will do everything I can to help defeat him if he runs.

Then again, based on his presidential campaign strategy, he may decide to campaign in only one district anyway

14. One small part of it, anyway. But, I'm not sure I'd...
take any poll seriously for now. Last primary elction, my ED with 60% Republicans (that's a little over 600) Rudy got exactly one vote.

One lousy little vote, so lonely in that sea of Republican votes. Maybe Thompson got none, but I just made the mental note about Rudy's passing fame. Or flameout.

So, it'll be September 2010 when we have the primary here, and that's several lifetimes in New York politics. I suspect Rudy will be back in the trash, even though he's pretty much all they got, and Cuomo will be have done his calculation on fundraising and just how much support he's getting from Democratic leaders around the state.

That local support is the key, and for the next year or so, Paterson, Gillibrand and Schumer, possibly with Clinton assistance, will be all over the state building a pile of chits to cash in next year. Cuomo might find he has just three county leaders in his pocket and a dead end for the run.

Or, he might find everyone rally pissed at Paterson-- the neat thing about this place is you just never know.

37. Republicans in New York
are not like republicans anywhere else. For instance, Rudy was pro-choice, pro gun-control, pro immigration, pro gay rights. They'd throw him out of the party in any other state.

15. That was the biggest disappointment for me in a long time
Spitzer was on his way to a possible future run for presidency himself, that is until he had that "deathwish" thing of his with the hookers. What a shame he turned out to be such a foolish fucker and throw it all away like that. Maybe he was always a fool. Who knows?

Anyway, I had such high hopes for him that he'd be president someday. Oh well, I guess Kirsten will probably have be the next President from NYS unless the Goddess of Peace decides to run in 2016. Then Kirsten will have to wait a bit. :smoke:

after Obama (a Democrat!) has been in the White House and there hasn't been another attack. His whole campaign was how "Democrats can't keep us safe". With every year that passes, Rudy's 9/11 "credentials" become less relevant.

The poll does not indicate any reason for the drop in approval, especially any "perceived inept appointment of Blue Dog Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand."

A poll yesterday found more approved of the Gillibrand appointment that did not approve.

44. A drop from 23 point lead to 2 point lead over Cuomo in less than a month is a free-fall in my book
and the only thing consuming NY politics is Caroline and Paterson and while it is true that Senator Gillibrand is supported in NY state, her numbers are ballooned by her impressive support among Republicans if you believe the Quinnipiac polls.

It simply isn't there. It was created, made up, in the OP.
