Poll shows Americans want stimulus package
The majority of Americans have said they support an increase in government spending to help prop up the struggling economy.

CNN has reported that 58 percent of respondents in a national poll said they want more government spending, while 40 percent said they would not back more spending.

Support for an economic stimulus package increased to 71 percent when tax cuts for individuals and businesses were added to the package.

1. Congress always has low approval ratings

It's a body based on deliberation and not action which is counterintuitive to being popular when the populace wants action. There's also a misconception that most members of congress don't work very hard.

2. Well, it was much worse than that before the election. Congress only had a 9%

approval rating, which was lower than that of Cheney. It's getting better...
