Eric Cantor schmoozefest with Rush this afternoon.
Rush repeated his mantra that Obama just wants the Republicans to sign on for cover. Cantor appeared to agree with everything Rush said, who ended by reminding Cantor that "Nancy Pelosi is the enemy".

Cantor's stance seemed to be that the stimulus bill is "porkulous" and not good enough for his support. Not fiscally responsible enough as it is "borrow and spend". The irony, oh the irony to hear any Republican talk like this without a shred of self-awareness. Cantor, like Limbaugh seems to be mired in the same old party-line divisiveness.

It's looking to me like the Republicans will NOT be on board. They will stay on the sidelines and just snark and belittle.

2. The House will punt the ball to the Senate.
House Republicans will, almost all of them, vote no, and House Democratics will vote yes. The real work will be done in the Senate, and the final version will be crafted in such a way that a few Republicans there will support it. At least that's MHO.

partisan gang warfare. The inauguration was only the first
indication of the country coming together and turning its
collective back on this kind of childish schoolyard brawling.

4. Hey Cantor! You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get anything done!
Didn't anyone tell you that? Oh yeah, someone did.

Republicans appear to have decided that since the economy is going to go into the shitter either way, they're going to take the position of obstructionist and say "I told you so" against anything Obama does, and hope that people blame Obama for the problems, rather than trying to do anything constructive to help or ameliorate the situation.

6. While President Obama (I love saying that!) is trying ...
... to unite, the Republicans are intentionally driving the partisan wedge deeper.

I can only hope that President Obama will "pull a Reagan" and publicly speak about Republican obstruction and childishness.

8. You have no idea how difficult it is to listen to him.
I do it occasionally, because I think it is important to be aware of the kind of crap he slings. I wish that someone would provide a transcript service of his show, because I would far prefer to read it than try to listen to it. (OMG - he just finished an amazing screed about "libruls" as the scourge of democracy and freedom) People who DON'T listen to him probably don't realize just how scary he really is. There was some German radio personality in the Hitler era that was later tried for spreading hate that precipitated genocide and I really think he's pretty close to that level of lunacy.

9. I listened to a bit of his show during my lunch break today...
He was delusionally trying to claim that Republicans weren't resistant to criticism of Bush's policies. He was complaining about the fact that people jumped on him for saying he hopes Obama fails. He tried to claim that somehow Republicans didn't do the same thing to liberals during the Bush administration, which is of course a crock of bullshit. Anyone who has ever watched Fox News throughout the Bush administration knows that there was a whole lot of McCarthyist rhetoric lobbed at critics of the war. Hannity, O'Reilly, and even the so-called "news anchors" would engage in it when they would interview people.

13. And I think he got into a little bit of trouble in his reelection this year
he better watch it for the next time around.

I think an Iraqi war vet ran against him. That guy should be raising funds right now and see if he can't get the Prez down for a little campaign stop......it's so close!

Cantor doesn't realize it, but they are from a place that America has left and isn't going back any time soon.
