imho Dems need to regain control of the story...
All you see on TV are Republicans talking about how they won't put up with the things Obama wants in the stimulus bill.

Anyone else think the president's "reaching out" has gone a bit far??

He visits them on the Hill, has dinners for them, invites them for cocktails ~ and they throw it all in his face. Don't they just perceive these overtures as weakness??

We won big, but Republicans are still controlling the story and the bill. They still insult by calling us the Democrat party.

I wish Dems would take control over the story and the bill ~ AND I wish President Obama would inform them that it's the Democratic party. imo they'd have more respect if they were treated with less indulgence.

What do you think??

1. It's the media who is the problem.
And they always have been.

They know very little about economics, and so instead, they bring us the dissenting voices.

On one side, there's not enough of this.
on the other side, there's not enough of that.
It's too small.
It's too big.
etc, etc, etc......

and then no one knows if it will work.

In otherwords, nobody knows nothing.

Again, the media is not interested in providing us with information,
simply interested in confusing us.

2. I don't think it's just the media - the president's "reaching out" has put them...
...in the catbird seat.

3. I agree with you
I think he's taking the wanting a bi-partisan agreement too far. First it was contraception, then more tax cuts and less spending. They're not going to vote for it, they were never going to vote for it and it makes the President look weak at a time when he has sky high approval ratings. A press conference about how he has continually reached out and gotten nothing in return is in order.

4. It's more complicated than that
He's willing to give up things in the bill that aren't crucial to its effictiveness in stimulating the economy to either bring the Republicans in or make them look like obstructionists who refuse to compromise.

8. Yup. They never can report properly on political issues.
For years they've thought that their job is to present a "D" sound clip followed by an "R" sound clip that says the opposite. There we go, both sides of the story, no bias. Of course the Repukes often respond with something that is a total lie or fabrication, but the reporters evidently figure that's what politics is and feel it would be bias to point out otherwise.

Although Obama's campaign did a good job at playing the media game, it's now time for some other elected leaders to step up and rebut these tired Repuke ideas for what they are. Obama can't do this by himself. The task seems to easy given how bad the Repuke track record has been. One only needs to go back to the Bush tax cuts to see that they were worthless at creating jobs.

9. Rep. Clyburn was just on MSNBCl, and did a wonderful job of rebutting the GOP's pity party....
Stating that the Republican's ideas were put to a vote, and the voters rejected what they were offering, and voted for Barack Obama....so it seems foolhearty for the Repugs to now believe that they have any credibility.

He was soooo excellent, I just said "WOW", that's what I would have said.

11. We need more of that
Dems who aren't afraid of sounding like Dems and don't care if the pukes are pissed off. The people spoke on 11/4 and while I respect the President's wanting a bi-partisan bill, you can't negotiate with a clenched fist (shameless ripoff of our new President).
