Sorry about that, I was looking at a different vote from yesterday. Night shift screws your schedule up a bit, and I thought it was still the 27th.

12. Spineless? Hardly. If anything, they had more spine than anyone, not that they were right or wrong.
What, they're not allowed to vote their conscience if they dont' agree with the package?

16. All those Dems are in districts that are red
As long as they caucus with us and don't cause legislation to fail I don't give a fuck.

The fact that every republican voted against it is even better news...because those moderate districts or blue districts have just given their opponents in the next election cycle a talking point when that rethug tries to talk about how bipartisan they are.

18. Jim Cooper is a f*cking disgrace....
...it's not like he even has to pander. Nashville/Davidson County is a heavy blue region, which gives him his seat without even working for it, and he went against us. The congressional seat here is automatic for a Dem. And yet he did this. He needs to realize we can elect another Dem, as easily as we have GIVEN him this seat. What a dick.

21. He probably wants to run statewide at some point
Memphis is even bluer than Nashville but Harold Ford was probably even more right wing than cooper. But that was because his entire house career was preparation to run statewide.

23. If that's the case, then he truly has delusions of grandeur...
...Cooper is about as exciting and charismatic as Mr. Rogers on valium. Which, again, begs the question: what is he pulling, because if it weren't for this easy blue safe seat, he'd be a night manager at a local grocery store.

He should concentrate on bailing his son out of jail for smuggling in illegal immigrants.

26. Then I hope you're going to get on board with Kendrick Meek

http://kendrickmeek.us/ShowPage.asp?page=default.asp

http://kendrickmeek.us/ShowPage.asp?page=2009-01-13SenateAnnouncement

Today I stand before you...

A son of Florida, born and raised in Miami
Educated in our public schools and a graduate of Florida A & M University
Who proudly wore the uniform of the Florida Highway Patrol
Who served in both the state House and Senate
And for the last six years served the people of this 17th District in Congress
Public service and a commitment to make a better life for the people of Florida has been my mission. I've given Florida a strong voice on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and was appointed by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives to the House Leadership.

But never in my lifetime have the people of Florida been faced with so many big problems. Our state needs bold leadership at every level, and that and it is why I've made the decision to run as a candidate for the United States Senate.

This race is not about me -- it is about Floridians. I am running for Florida, and I am asking Floridians to run with us in this race.

27. Boyd announed yesterday that he will not be running for the Senate:
Attorney General McCollum and Rep. Allen Boyd pass on Senate run

Two potential contenders for Mel Martinez's U.S. Senate seat have bowed out, leaving Democrats Kendrick Meek and Dan Gelber the only big names in the race.

BY BETH REINHARD
breinhard@MiamiHerald.com

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and Congressman Allen Boyd on Tuesday became the latest politicians to take a pass on Florida's open Senate seat in 2010.

U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami and state Sen. Dan Gelber, both Democrats, are the only elected officials who have launched campaigns so far.
