MSM is already trying to paint a picture that the stimulus won't work.
This is what they will be trying to do for the next year or so before the 2010 election.

1. The media is the reason, Obama and Democrats had to take out stuff like
Planned Parenthood. Acting like they are so outraged that it was in the stimulus

2. poop - I don't believe that at all
to debate the pros and cons is not dooming the stimulus

no one has all the answers - and no one can see the future. There are many different views - and to air these is what the MSM should be doing.

4. exactly..but who will inform the people..
of what is in the bill? There may be many different views, about what is in the 647 pages, but the MSM is not reporting them.

10. I read a post around here somewhere..
that the tv has republicans on 2-1. Whatever is in the media's best interest to do, they will do.

15. do you know that the ratio is based on their invitations?
or who is accepting the invitations.

My understanding is that it is the latter - that the repubs are just sending out the armies and accepting all invites.

5. the number of Republicans
compared to Democrats who are appearing on tv to talk about the stimulus is disproportionate.

7. I agree with that - the GOP is sending them out in armies (Armeys? hehehe)
that is not the same as the MSM painting the stimulus package as a failure - only the talking points of hte GOP.

3. That is why it is in our best interest to do a stimulus that spends a lot of $ NOW.
It will take time for those funds to run through the economy anyhow.

I can't imagine how pissed the public will be if we fund a huge stimulus bill, but because the way its structured, it fails to produce the desired result, or any result at all.

Also, if at the end of Obama's term, we spend this money and use a minimal amount on infrastructure, and then we hear about how dismal it still is that will and should be used against us.

6. This is the exact same thing that happened with the Clinton budget.
And the MSM was more than happy to support the Republican position!

9. Investing in America won't work...run with it, MSM
The media would take us off a cliff if it felt like the right thing to do ratings-wise, and lots of people tune them out as a result. I think their "clout" is overstated.

12. Okay... I watched fair and balanced for the last hour and saw no fairness at all.
For the last hour, it was all one sided - putting down the stimulus package - and not one word from the other side.

13. Do people honestly believe
that doing nothing (or pretty much more of the same) is BETTER than doing nothing? The "free market" that was built on a house of cards doesn't seem capable and/or willing to fix itself so why don't we try something else? While we probably won't the effects of the stimulus for awhile (after it is enacted and signed into law), i can't imagine that it won't help at least a little bit. Also, all of this posturing about spending? Puh-leeze! :eyes: Bush told us that we needed to spend billions to bail out financial institutions and, bit by bit, we're finding out that the businesses being bailed out aren't handling the money responsibly and/or doing what they promised to do, so it's those people we're supposed to put our trust into when they tell us that this stimulus won't work? :eyes:

14. It's the corporate media's JOB to push the economic royalists' views onto we, the people
Fortunately, in the internet age, the 1% no longer control all the channels of communication.
