Obama signs first major piece of legislation: the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act.

Today, President Obama signed his first major piece of legislation, boosting workers’ ability to bring pay discrimination lawsuits. Also at the ceremony with Obama was Lilly Ledbetter, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and other top women in government. From Obama’s remarks during the East Room signing ceremony.

And I sign this bill for my daughters, and all those who will come after us, because I want them to grow up in a nation that values their contributions, where there are no limits to their dreams and they have opportunities their mothers and grandmothers never could have imagined.

5. This is a spectacularly important and good move.

Kudos to President Obama and to those who got this bill passed.

I must say, I am quite pleased with Obama's first week. The stimulus sacrifices at the altar of "bipartisanship" were the only big disappointment. (Well, that and the confirmation of Geithner.)

6. It's like emerging from the dark ages.
Equal pay for equal work, what a concept.
