28. Agree. Lamar wants all the money for corporate welfare and bonuses for bankers
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 12:21 PM by kiranon
before you and me and others get a dime back that we paid into the social security system or for medicare (which is, I hope, the forerunner for universal health care) or medicaid - it is what you do for the least of us that defines your humanity. The campaign slogan for the Democrats should be how rich do you have to be before Lamar will stop throwing tax payer money at you. Apparently, you can't be too rich. Lamar will just shut down social security, medicare and medicaid to free up even more money for corporate welfare and tax breaks for the rich.

5. He just won, sadly.
So, it'll have to wait six years.

Maybe, by that time, there will actually be a Democratic Party in Tennessee (to speak of - ours is dilapidated).

who used to be a die-hard repub. Slowly, by rubbing TN friend's nose in bush poo, my husband has converted that friend who is now send nasty letters to Sen. Corker.

18. I know.
At times it can be very depressing to live in this state. I will say that the whole TN House coup has been very fun to watch. :D

Sen. Plaid Shirt and Corker manage to have this veneer of being a moderate for a lot of people in this state. There are actually quite a few people here that think Plaid Shirt is very pro-environment. :eyes:

19. He's for protecting the environment around his land. Elsewhere? Not so much.
He wants to maintain the view from his property near the Smokies.

Otherwise? Not so much.

And yes, I've been watching the Repub takeover of the TN House and Senate. I'm afraid we're in for some weird times over the next few years.

9. "Taking care of people is wasteful spending."
That's what he really means. Fucking asswipe.

I'm so sick of this attitude - that people are objects. A just society would make sure everyone has three hots & a cot, along with health care & education & a host of other things that we all need to thrive. The most aggravating part is the self-righteousness of Americans like him. He tells himself that there's a level playing field in this country, so, we have all the same opportunities he had, & if we weren't such losers, we could be where he is. But that's an all American lie. There is no level playing field! And it's becoming more skewed every day!
