I hope that some Caterpillar employees speak up
as that nasty Congressman from Illinois - did not get his name - who was wooed by Obama, claimed that he received "thousands of emails from Caterpillar employees to vote NO."

No doubt, there are many more who do support the bill and I hope that some of them will speak up.

5. Aaron Schock
Rep. Aaron Schock, whose llinois district is home to Caterpillar, spoke on the floor about the president's speech to his constituents and their telling response.

"I found it very interesting that after the president finished his speech and I stayed around, not one employee at that facility approached me and asked me to vote for this bill. In fact, I have received over 1,400 phone calls, e-mails, and letters from Caterpillar employees alone asking me to oppose this legislation"

OK, from the Weekly Standard, but was also on TV - don't remember what program - which is why I wonder about all Caterpillar employees.

3. The emails were from actual caterpillars
The Congressman dropped some acid and hallucinated that thousands of larval Lepidopteras furiously typed out missives with their spindly little legs.

What? It could've happened?

4. Seriously though, big companies are really evil and insidious about doing stuff like this
They'll convince their employees that certain types of legislation are in their best interest, or go against them. I used to work for a big company that had this "public affairs division" that were constantly telling us to email our congress people or write LTTEs about things like "tort reform" or the great need to expense stock options. So it's entirely possible that some propagandized employees did this. Has Caterpillar opposed the stimulus? I know they had a problem with the "Buy American" clause.

7. i doubt their non-corporate employees have caterpillar.com e-mail addresses
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 06:11 PM by asphalt.jungle
so freeptards could just as easily have e-mailed him claiming to be caterpillar employees.

and that's if he's not making it up.
