2. We have to wait for spring
And to find a hypoallergenic mutt. No easy task. The voters have so many demands! Didn't Joe have to give back his new breed puppy?

finding this dog may be as hard as finding Osama bin Laden.

3. Critical for the Country's recovery! Seriously...we need a lift. Nothing
like a spanking new first puppy to give us that.

6. I don't care what breed, or if it's a mix.
But it will be so joyous to see this young family, with a bouncing little puppy, frolicking on on the White House lawn!

7. How many disfunctional families have we had in the White House?
I don't means to bash the Clintons but they would have to be included...the Regans, both Bush families...it has been a long time since we saw a normal family in the WH. God, I hope they can stay that way.

PS. I have to give the Clintons credit for doing a great job with their daughter in spite of their own problems.

9. After the weekend I had with my very naughty dog Lucy, they can have mine!
I think I'll make a trip to D.C. this afternoon and present her as a "gift."

Just kidding, of course.

As everyone already knows, PLEASE don't ever buy an animal from a pet store or a puppy mill (where pet stores buy their animals).
I don't care what kind of dog the Obamas get, as long as it is rescued, a mutt or comes from a reputable breeder who does genetic testing and properly socializes the puppies.

Lucy was rescued out of a puppy mill that was sooo bad that it was actually forced to close.

She is the perfect example of a puppy mill dog.
She was poorly socialized and remains nervous and fearful around people. She is TERRIFIED of men. Aside from my husband, no man can get close enough to even try to touch her. She will cower and sometimes wet herself around men. Its sad to imagine just what was done to her.
She had a nasty habit of eating poop because she wasn't properly fed at the mill. Nasty and HARD to break her of this.
It took over 8 months to get her house broken because the mill had broken the instinct to not soil her own quarters. She was kept in a tiny wire coop that there was nothing else to do.
She also has such intense separation anxiety problems that after two years, my vet finally convinced me that she does need "puppy prozac" because training just wasn't enough. This, too, is due to her nervous disposition that was bred into her. Its one of the most common traits of the puppy mill/ pet store dogs.
Had the mill not been busted, she would have been shipped to a pet store, given a bath and a bow and sold for $1000.
Her very challenging and disgusting behavior quirks could have brought abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Here she is when we first brought her home.

10. She's a cutie!
And so lucky that you were willing to give her such love and patience!

I've got three great shelter/stray dogs myself!

12. Let them all get used to their new surroundings first
It will be easier on the puppy if he comes into a home with an established routine, even if it is the White House. I think the root of poor Barney's problems was that he didn't get enough attention or routine.

14. Uh, I can think of another reason for Barney's problems.
And that would be his sociopath owner. But I do agree in general that things will go better for the pet once the family is settled in.

13. It be better if they got a dog that was at least 2 years old instead of a puppy.

15. I blame the GOP.
In Particular, Boehner, McConnel and Cantor.

No specific reason, but they're spoiling most of the fun around town, might as well suspect them of throwing a monkey wrench into this one too.
