Sanford compares Obama admin to Stalin, Weimar
Sanford compares Obama admin to Stalin, Weimar

A note of, er, alarm from South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, in an interview with Politico:

If we go too far in just spending too much money and borrowing money, we could put ourselves in the exact position Argentina found itself in the 1920s when they had, you know, cratering of their currency. If you look at the Weimar Republic, you know, between World War I and World War II, you had a cratering of their currency, so much that you had to carry a wheelbarrow load of currency to get so much as a loaf of bread. And horrible things happened in the wake of that experience.

...and on Fox News Sunday:

At times it sounds like the Soviet grain quotas of Stalin's time -- X number of jobs will be created because Washington says so.

3. I guess this guy lived on another planet during the Bush admin

Buscho advertised ferociously that their $1.3 trillion in tax cuts would create millions and millions of jobs. Instead job growth never even kept up with their own projected "without tax cut" trend lines.

6. This is so stupid on so many levels
The cratering of the US Dollar was the reason I moved all of our retirement out of the market and into cash in December 2007. I had planned to start buying Euros but chose to wait.

7. It's the republican game plan
Go after Obama, complain about what he is doing on the economy, trash his plans as costing to much, or being socialistic, and do everything they can to pin this whole mess Bush gave us on Obama! Now their base is eating the crap up, and so they think they have a good plan, actually it's all the have since they don't have a clue as to what else to do. I have argued with several republicans when they try and pin this all on the democrats and Obama. Some will admit that Bush was part of the problem, but they want to say it all started "after" the democrats took control of congress, and Bush just followed their lead! :eyes:

I think it will backfire on them for several reasons. The american people are not as stupid as they think, sure about 30% of americans, the republican base, will buy their line of BS, but I think that even some of them will start to see through the BS, not many, but a few. People of all walks of life are being laid off, not just democrats, but republicans, independents, religious people, and non-religious people. Some republicans who are complaining now, and agree with the idiots who are bashing Obama, have a good chance of being laid off and will need help to pay their bills so they can survive. Many republicans are already in that boat, and if their leaders turn down money that could help them, it is going to change their opinions in a big hurry once they can't make ends meet.

The Governors in republican states that want to turn down money for social programs for health care, and unemployment extensions are going to cut their own throats. They have no plan of their own, and are trying to get what they feel are people who vote for the democrats to leave the state and find work elsewhere, which will make their unemployment numbers look better. Problem is that many republican voters are in the same boat, or will be, when it comes to needing extensions on their unemployment. Whoever is giving them this advice hasn't a clue as to what they are doing, they are just winging it in hopes they get it right.

I think Obama is going to be visiting those states over the next few months talking about his plan and making those governors, and republican members in congress, look bad for not supporting the people in those states who really need help.

8. Fox is constantly comparing him to Socialism
and claiming we're headed down the path to communism. Fair and balanced don't you know? :sarcasm:
